The weeks after Val's confession have been hard. I mean not only for me but also for her. We didn't talk that much but we still ate lunch together, from time to time even Felix joined us, and Luke. But it was always awkward between Felix and Val, and between Luke and me.
Next weekend it's Patty's birthday so me and Julian decided to go surprise her. The whole week was in colours of preparing for the celebration, i even decided to bake a cake. Which please if it doesn't turn out awful it's gonna be a miracle.
I was leading Patty on for the last few days that I was sick with the flu and I'm definitely not coming to her party. Well only if she knew.
The night before our road trip, me and Julian were hanging out with a few of his friends.
Max, extremely tall with dark skin and curly hair,I met, not exactly, I saw him at the store that night, was acting like a big brother to me. He was teasing and mocking Julian but all in a friendly way. The shyest of the three musketeers as I like to call them is Barry. He is also tall, with light skin, light hair and baby blue eyes, just perfect for Patty.
Just as I was thinking that Julian said: »Barry, since you don't have any plans this weekend how about you come with us to her friend's party?«
Barry looked a little surprised by the offer: »If it's okay with April, I mean i wouldn't want to ruin your trip.«
»Don't worry Barry, I even think Patty will be happy we brought someone.« I assured him and smiled.
»Well that's settled see you at my house tomorrow at 4 pm, we've got a long drive ahead of us.« Julian said and we set off home.
As we were walking to the car and waving goodbye to Barry and Max, whose girlfriend came to pick him up, I got a text from Patty.
»Me and Julian had to pick up some snacks for tomorrow so we stopped at the local shop which was still open, surprisingly, considering it was 8 pm.
Never have I thought that shopping could be so much fun. When we finally got everything, my stomach hurt of laughter and I couldn't wipe the smile of my face. I think the cashier thought we were crazy.
***********
This day went by fast and before I knew it Barry and Julian were picking me up.
»Bye mom! See you Sunday evening!« I yelled closing the door.
I think this is going to be the best weekend ever.
The ride went by fast, I could see Barry sleeping in the backseat, probably exhausted of all the college work. Meanwhile me and Julian talked, listened to music, I even fell asleep at some point.
After 8 hours we finally came to our destination, Patty's house.
I knew that she liked to stay in the night before she went out to a party, and I knew that since it was nearly midnight she was still awake.
I looked at the boys and we walked quietly to the front door. I didn't ring the bell I rather Just texted her
She screamed and ran downstairs to open the door.
»AAAAaaaaa, I knew it you wouldn't bail on me! Oh my god, I can't believe you're here. How long were you driving? Wait you don't have drivers license.« She babbled on and then she realized there were two boys with me.
I looked at Julian and held his hand: »This is Julian, and that's his friend Barry.«
They exchanged an awkward shake. »Can we come inside or will you let us sleep on the porch?« I asked.
»Well of course not. Come inside, I'm just so excited!!« she shrieked.
When i stepped inside it all felt familiar. I've been here a million times but it seemed like million years ago.
Her parents weren't home so she gave me and Julian a room and a room for Barry. When the boys were taking out everything we brought we talked.
»So that's the hunky stranger. Not so strangely now.« she teased me.
»I know right. He's so cute. I think I'm finally overVal even after she told me About her crush.«
»Oh my god, yeah. It was so weird. You being in love with her and her with you. I guess it just isn't meant to be.«»Yeah I guess so.« I said a little bit saddened. »But I have Julian and I'm so happy.«
»Yeah i can see it. You haven't stopped smiling since you came inside. It's weird. But I like it.«
The boys brought up the last boxes and sat next to us in the kitchen.
»You know we had a family reservation at Papi's and we were ready to cancel it but since my family's out of town, however since you're all here maybe I can convince my mom not to cancel it and let us have it? Are you in?«
»Oh Jeez, I haven't been there forever. I really miss their pizza. How could I say no to that?« I was extremely happy. They truly have the bestest pizza on Earth.»What do you say boys?« Patty suggested.
»Well if you're in I'm in. You know I never say no to a pizza.«Julian smiled.
Barry didn't say anything, he just nodded.
When I went to bed, I couldn't help myself but feel this big ball forming in my stomach. I have a bad feeling about tomorrow.
I ignored it and rolled in bed so I was looking at Julian who was peacefully sleeping for the last half an hour.
How can I be so lucky.
