mom's pov
"Did you hear that Jack? I think something fell upstairs. Do you mind checking up on April?"
"Moooom, why me?" Jack protested.
"Because I asked you too. Now go, you see I'm starting to cook."
He went upstairs very grumpy. I was just deciding on what to cook, when I heard a scream.
"Mom! Mom!! Come up something's wrong with April!" I dropped everything and ran upstairs.
When I got in her room she was lying on the ground, blood everywhere and Jack was standing over her in shock.
"Honey, get the phone and call 911." He didn't move. "Now!!!!"
He ran downstairs and called an ambulance. I went to her. My baby girl. What have I done. I started crying like crazy. I could hear Jack talking on the phone.
He returned and said: "They said we shouldn't move her, but we should try to stop the bleeding."
How could he be so calm? He went to get some towels to stop the bleeding. Meanwhile I was stroking my little girl's hair.
"How could I let this happen? How could I not notice that something was wrong?" I was sobbing.
The ambulance arrived sooner than expected. Like in a trance me and Jack went with them. The paramedics were doing everything in their power to stop the bleeding. They noticed that her right knuckles were swolen. They took some of her blood for a quick toxins scan and the level of alcohol in her blood was amazingly high.
When we arrived at the hospital we were told to wait.
Jack finally broke and started shaking and crying.. There are no words to describe how I feel right now. I've been crying ever since we've found her. I had no idea what do now. I had to be strong for Jack. I pulled out my best "everything's going to be okay"look and said: "Jack don't worry.Everything will be fine." he was shaking so badly. I understood. Him and her have a special bond. She was the glue holding this family together and now. Now she's in there and I can't do anything to protect her.
"I need to call George and some other people. Promise me to stay here. I'll bring you some ice cream after, okay?"
He sniffled, the tears were rolling down his face. He just nodded.
My hands were shaking so badly I don't know how I managed to call George.
"April's in the hospital. I need you now." That's all I could say before bursting into tears again. I knew I couldn't make any more calls so I texted George to get April's phone so we could contact her friends.
While we were waiting for George, I went to get Jack his promised Ice cream. He didn't touch it.
When George arrived he brought her phone. He rushed in the waiting room with his work clothes still on.
"George, I don't know what to do. We-we found her in her room-" I started crying again. He hugged me.
"Don't worry, I'll call her friends. You go be with Jack he needs you right now. Did you text Tommy?" he was calm as always. I don't know how he managed to be like that.
"No, I only called you." my voice was sore from crying.
"Okay, don't worry." he said.
Two doctors came to the room. I saw the quietly speaking to George. He came to me: "They're doing everything they can, but she's lost a lot of blood, and she hit her head when hitting the ground so she has some bleeding in the brain too. They said it might take a while."
