I sat slumped on a bench in the library. My head bowed, my hands clasped firmly into each other, my red locks created a halo around my face. Daphne sat quietly beside me. Tyler and Levi watched me from across the room and Adrian...Adrian just kept pacing in front of me.
I thought he was being dramatic. But when was he never? Although in this situation, it was perfectly justifiable to evince such deportment regardless of my opinion.
When the pacing finally stopped, it wasn't because the doer had grown tired of it. It was because he had finally gotten hold of the words he'd been racking his brain for to voice.
"I'm most definitely not saying Nathaniel did good when he yelled at you Sasha. I don't think anyone of us here thinks so. But even you can testify that he wasn't far from the truth. A little bit harsh, but true nonetheless." I nodded and pushed my hair back.
Raising my head, I fixed Adrian with a guilty look. He continued. "Why would you even leave without saying goodbye?" He asked.
How did you even answer to that?
Right. Honesty was always the safe path.
So I chose that path when I answered, "Nothing to justify my actions than plain ole cowardice." Levi got up from where he perched a couple feet away and came closer.
"Hey. We're your friends. You don't think we'd enjoy you doing something without letting us know especially something like that right? We want you to be able to talk to us." He patted my hair and I smiled up at him.
"Yeah. And I think it was bias from your side to have confided in Daphne without deeming it even a second thought to mention it to us." Tyler concluded and Daphne rolled her eyes. She smacked his shoulder and said playfully.
"See? You never took me seriously when I'd always say she loved me a bit more!" I turned sharply to her.
"What the hell?! You told them that?!" She shrugged and I turned to face the boys. "You know that's not true right?" I asked and the boys nodded. Levi leant down and whispered in my ear.
"We just let her think that she's right so the truth wouldn't hurt her feelings."
"Hey! I heard that!"
Except Levi wasn't whispering after all since Daphne heard perfectly and she sat quite far. We chuckled at her expense and she only pouted. I asked the boys again, "So you forgive me?"
"We forgave you the minute we saw you ginger." Tyler replied and the others nodded their agreement. I smiled widely at them.
I was lucky to have such amazing friends.
******
It was before lunch and I swore some deity somewhere knew of my undying love for food so they always chose that time to hold me up.
