Chapter 4 (Unbelievable Truth)

'What is it? Is she going to be fine? What caused her heart to stop?' Katy asked hurriedly as she paced around the doctor's office.

'Jessica had a heart attack. This is caused as her heart has weakened since her birth. From now on, her situation will only get worse. The only way to save her is to replace her heart with a suitable healthy one.

'How did this happen? How did she get this ?'

'It is most likely hereditary Miss Hudson.'

'No one in our family ever had a heart problem... there must be another explanation for it...'

'Miss Hudson, I am extremely sorry but the hospital that Jessica was born in has made a mistake and switched your child with someone else's child.'

'This is outrageous! My daughter's life is in danger and you are standing right here doing nothing to help her, but instead, here to question whether she is my daughter?'

'Miss Hudson, please calm down. I understand that this is really hard for you, but please bear with me. When your daughter was born, the hospital was changing their registry system. It is said that some babies back then might have been mixed up so there is a fair chance that Jessica Bailey is not your biological daughter. The hospital is now currently contacting all parents and their child that were born within those five days, and unfortunately, Jessica and you Ma'am are one of them.'

'I don't even know why I am still standing here talking to you.' Katy screamed at the doctor as she stormed out of the office. 

Katy quickly dried her tears and ran back to Jessie's room. So much was going on in her head, how is it possible that Jessie is not her daughter? Her world would come tumbling down if she ever lost Jessie. Jessie is her precious one, someone that she would do anything to protect. She could feel knives in her heart whenever she returned to Jessie's room when she sees the machines connected to her child who is so venerable and weak and young. 

'Babes?'

'Mommy I'm really scared... I don't want to leave you ever mommy...'

'Hey don't say that! I love you and you won't leave me Jess... I'm going to keep you safe... you are my little princess and I love you so, so much...'

 Jessie leaned against her mother's chest as she sobbed softly. So much was going on in her little brain, it was too much for her to ever handle. The chance of that she might lose her mommy and go somewhere else alone scary and dark was simply overwhelming. 

'I love you so much hon... and I promise you, you are going to be fine and you will be coming with me on my next tour. I know that it really hurts, but I believe in you because you are my little warrior and you are the bravest and toughest princess I have ever met in my whole entire life.'

'I am?' 

'Yes you are my little princess.' Katy said as she held Jessie's head close to her chest.

Katy woke up to a nurse right next to her. Without any second thoughts, Katy shot up, only to find Jessie still in her arms safe and sound and fast asleep. She smiled and asked the nurse what happened.

'The doctor wants to talk to you right now.' The nurse said with a frown on her face.

Katy got out of the bed, cautious not to wake her little angel. 'Mommy's going to be back soon okay? Stay safe my baby, I love you...'

Katy tip toed out of the room bare feet and paced down the hallway onto the doctor's room. 

'Miss Hudson please sit down.'

'I'm not sitting down! Can you please get this quick and so that I can go back to my little girl?'

'I am very sorry to have to say this, but Jessica Lauren Bailey is not your biological daughter. Your biological daughter is called Alison Elizabeth Moore. She is in England. Jessica's parents were here for holiday when Mrs Moore went into labour.' 

'This is ridiculous! How is that possible?'

'I fully understand that this is beyond your imagination, but this is yet the fact. Ms Hudson you have raised someone else's child for the past three years.'

'No. This is not true. I only have one daughter and that is Jess, who is next door sick with no medical help at all. DO SOMETHING TO GET HER SAFE!' Katy screamed in horror as she stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind her and to make a statement. 

When Katy got back to Jessie, her poor child was awake and curled up into a little ball, rocking herself back and forth as tears rolled down her cheeks. Katy pushed past the nurses who were not helpful at all in helping Jessie.

'Hey Jess what's wrong? You okay?'

'Mommy!' Jessie cried out as she reached for her mommy.

'Hey what happened? Don't cry, mommy's here... I'm sorry I left just now, I had to talk to the doctor.'

'I had a bad dream and it's scary...there were monsters... they want to eat me... Mommy help me...'

'Oh darling mommy will always keep you safe no matter what... I promise you Jess. Mommy will keep you safe, forever and ever, no matter how hard it is, I love you so much my angel.'
