Katy folded the letter and put it back into the envelope. She wiped away her falling tears and counted to ten and took a deep breath. Katy gasped for air as her sobs took over. She tried to stand up, but her legs refused to support her. She leaned onto her dressing table, and let her cries out. The pain in her heart was overwhelming, she felt as if she was drowning. Katy had always had nightmares about this day, but she had always hoped that this day will not come so soon. She took deep breaths as she tried to calm herself down. She must not wake Jessica, her three month old baby girl that's sleeping peacefully in her crib.
Katy took the letter out of the envelope again, and read through it again... through every word, she could feel her heart breaking...
Dear Mrs Bailey,
Please accept my most personal regards and deepest sympathy on the recent death of your husband, Sergeant Dylan Bailey, who was killed in action in Iraq. This tragedy has taken away a husband from his wife, a son from his parents, and a father from his daughter, a good friend and teammate from all those in Iraq, and untold hundreds back home as well. Words cannot describe to you how sorry I am for this tremendous loss, and how Dylan's death has and will continue to impact those of us still serving.
Katy folded up the letter once again and went to Jessica's crib. She picked up her fast asleep baby and kissed her. She held Jessica close up to her neck and stroked her back. This baby was all that Katy got, her husband is gone, and will never come back...
(A Few Months Later...)
Katy was still completely heart broken from Dylan's death. Despite all the tragedy and problems, Katy was now working on her second album, which is expected to be better than ever. She knew that she had to stay strong to give the best to her baby. She was under a ton of pressure, She did not know what to do. She had to keep all her heartache private and continued to entertain her fans. Katy would constantly be crying in her dark room, with Jessica next door. She would watch her daughter sleep, thinking back that this little girl is all she had left of her and Dylan. Why was the world so cruel? Why did they have to take one of the most important part of Katy away?
Katy constantly thought about her career, being happy and proud of what she achieved, but then she would get sad again as she had no one to share this special gift with...
The one good thing that came out of this tremendous loss was the bond between Jessica and Katy got stronger than ever. They would always be there for each other no matter what, and they could cheer up each other no matter how blue their day had been. The love they have for each other was unconditional... But will that stay forever?
