There standing in front of us was the civilian cop that helped me deal with the difficult customer a while ago. He was wearing a loose white button-up, jeans, leather cowboy boots, and a white ten-gallon hat. His bright blonde hair starkly contrasted with his tanned skin, but the most striking aspect of him was that the green eyes I saw him with last were replaced by golden eyes that shone like the sun.

"Re did you have to interrupt." Set threw himself back into his chair with a huff. I sank back into my own taking a sip from my wine glass trying to hide my blushed face.

"I'm sorry, were you two having a moment?" He took a seat and grabbed the empty wine glass and tilted it towards Set. Set poured and refilled his own.

"Should've grabbed the scotch." Set huffed.

"I don't think we've been properly introduced." I stood a little too quickly, and I must've drunk a little too much. My head felt fuzzy and my eyes couldn't quite focus. I didn't even realize I was falling until I felt strong arms around me, and my head hit against a broad chest. Set sat back down with me on his lap. Re cocked his head with a knowing smirk.

"I know who you are Alice. Oh and by the way, I'm going by the name of Evan Marshall. I have been keeping an eye on you for years. I finally found you when you were 15. I came because you are in danger and I want to protect you like I once did. I was always at Heru's side, Set here, wasn't." He gave Set the stink eye, his golden eyes glowed brighter.

"Ok, this isn't going to work." I stood up again, slowly this time. "If you two are both on my side, then you guys need to get along. You've been watching me?! If that's the case, you could've spoken to me instead of slinking in the background. I don't like being spied on. At least Set here spoke to me, and has been nothing but kind to me. Work together. I'm not going to deal with godly politics. Understood!" I froze, surprised by my own outburst. Still a little dizzy, I sat back down, flinching because I sat back on Set's lap. I relaxed though as he wrapped an arm around my waist, pressing me closer to him. Re, on the other hand, stiffened, his face was in shock as his eyes looked between the two of us.

"Have you figured out who's after her. I need to know who I need to be wary of. To know who I need to kill to protect her." I gulped at that.

"I don't know who's after her. I don't know why. All I know is she's in danger and you get to protect her. I simply came to introduce myself to let Alice, here, know that she has several immortals protecting her." The sun god stood, drained his glass, and bowed low. With a flash of golden light, a falcon flapped its wings and was gone into the night.

I leaned back into Set's chest. "Why do I feel safe with you?" I snuggled into him, more not wanting to aggravate my now throbbing head.

"Are you drunk, my dear?" He chuckled. He grabbed his cup and drained it.

"I've never drunk this much but I can still think straight. My head is a little dizzy is all. Is my speech slurred or something?" I looked up at him, his eyes bore into mine.

"No dear, your speech is fine." His smile widened. "I have a guest room you could use. Don't worry I would never lay my hands on you without consent. Hence why I'm enjoying you sitting on my lap." He smiled. He put one arm around my shoulders and one under my legs and picked me up. I squeaked at the sudden movement, but soon accepted my fate.

"Thank you, Set. Once again, why do I feel so safe with you?"

"Because something Re said was incorrect." He smiled. He carried me into a beautifully decorated room with loads of fake plants and flowers. He set me down on a beautiful ice blue canopy bed with little purple lights wrapped around the bed frame. I sat down but didn't let go of his wrist.
