I woke up with a text from Sekhmet, one that had me nervous. I showed it to Set and he too was worried.
"Find Ist. We cannot help you yet. Neph found out we were with you. She ordered us for info but forgot to order the truth. I don't know how long we can keep them off your tail. Don't text back." Well shit. Neph still held their names and seemed to use that quite often. I was worried about the two of them, but Sekhmet was right. I should find Isis.
I got dressed in something easy to move in and chugged a cup of coffee. I placed the whistle in my mouth and smiled at the thickness of the path-line. She was quite close, although I didn't know how close.
"I'll come with you." Set came out of the bedroom dressed in skin-tight workout gear, which I liked quite a bit.
"No. You stay here. We don't know how much info they spilled, so it's best if I went by myself. Wear that when I get back though." I kissed his cheek and began to open the door.
"I don't want you to go alone." He closed the door trapping me between it and his chest.
"I'll be fine. Besides does Isis like you or does she hate you too?" That had him looking down solemnly.
"Fine. I love you, Alice. Be careful." He placed a gentle kiss on my lips and moved aside. I gave him a nod of the head and opened the door. With a flash of light, I shifted into my owl form but kept the whistle in my beak.
I flew on, down the path of light for almost an hour. It took longer due to the several breaks I had to do to catch my breath. I still wasn't used to flying for long periods of time, and this was really kicking my feathered butt. I flew further and further away from civilization. The memory of Re taking me to see Thoth popped into my head.
Finally, after several hours of flying, I came across an oasis. It was beautiful with a small pond and a few trees. Birds of all kinds bathed in the water and a few lizards basked themselves on rocks. No one was here, however, and I double-checked the path which said she was here.
The path however was pointing into the lake. I landed next to it and splashed my own feathers, allowing myself to cool down. The path puzzled me. It was as if she was beneath the pond. With a sigh, I took flight again. Hovering above the pond, I took a deep breath, tucked my wings, and dove.
I was sinking deeper and deeper into the water, but I never felt wet, nor did I need to hold my breath. It was as if the water was tugging me down, but without actually touching me. So I swam deeper, going where it wanted. Soon the dark bottom of the pond opened up to bright light and I smiled, as best I could as a bird. I fell through the hole of light into a broad sky.
I was confused. There was no more water, only a sky above me and a forest below. A large romanesque temple was built near a large mirror-like lake. We must have passed into Ist's dimension, just like Djehuty's. Most likely, but why would she hide here? Wouldn't it be the first place Nephthys and Osiris would look? Yes, unless they couldn't come here without permission. Like a safe, you'd need the key or combo. Well, that's smart.
I flew towards the building made of white marble. It resembled a roman open-aired temple, with loads of columns surrounding the rectangular base. It had no roof nor walls, only the triangular-shaped roofs on the short sides. It was beautiful and had many blue and green silks hanging from columns giving the pale stone some life. I landed just outside of the building and shifted.
I walked in and glanced about. It was a truly stunning building but it had some things that weren't as roman as I first thought. For one, the many columns were Egyptian styles with the well-known flower at the top. The scene carved in the triangular bits showed the Egyptian gods, not greek or roman ones. It was cool and yet strange at the same time.
