I awoke in a familiar room. How'd I end up back in our bedroom? I sat up and looked around taking in the red sky. Sunrise or Sunset? How long have I been out? I found my robe and padded out to the living room. Set, Anubis, Sekhmet, Sobek, Bastet, Isis, Thoth, Nephthys, Re, and Ausir all sat around the fire pit. Anubis was the first to notice me, he stood, shifted into an animal, and pounced on me.

"Fuck, Anubis! Hunny get off. Yes, I love you too, now get off." I shoved the big canine down.

"You did well Alice. Just as I predicted." Thoth came over and helped me up.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked tieing my robe back in place.

"You did exactly as I thought you would. I knew Apep was the one controlling Ausir. I knew the whole truth as to why he was going after you. You see you're not only able to kill a god, but you're able to make them human." He smiled.

I followed him out to the patio and took a seat next to Set. I was handed a wine glass with a smile. "So what happened while I was out? How long was I out?" I sipped my wine with a sigh.

"Well, Apep is here, on Earth. He's staying at my place in Texas, for now, I'm keeping an eye on him. I still don't know why you didn't just kill him." Re complained.

"He may be an asshole, a douche if you will, but he deserves a second chance. At the very least he'll only live for maybe 30-40 years." I shrugged.

"You are the most selfless person I've ever met Alice. You took a hit for me, almost died for me, then you use up all of your energy to make him human. He better be grateful." Ausir grumbled.

"I suppose, but it doesn't really matter. He owes me now." I smiled.

"Yeah, he does." Sekh sighed.

"What are you going to do to him now Alice?" Sobek asked. I sipped my wine and shrugged my shoulders, wondering that myself.

A man sat in a bare-boned room. Nothing much except a bed and dresser. No color decorated the walls and a simple threadbare brown blanket covered his bed. He kept the blinds shut, for the sunlight hurt his eyes, but kept the room quite dark. This was going to be a very miserable existence.

He sat on the edge of the bed with his head hung low. He couldn't describe the feeling he had for he had never felt them before. He felt like letting the warm drops of water fall from his eyes yet he also felt like he could rip someone's head off at the same time. What were these feelings?

He looked over at the small T.V. that sat in the corner. Maybe he could learn something. So he turned it on and flipped through the shows. A documentary about snakes came on which made him smirk. He felt much more comfortable with the scaled beasts than with other people.

He perked up at the sight of a beautiful rattler. He perked up even more when it said that they appeared in his new location. Maybe there was a good point as to why he was here. It almost made him want to take a walk in the high grass and find his little friends.

He turned off the show and went to his new closet. His uncaring host had been nice enough to give him some clothes. He threw on a shirt and thick pants and laced up some steel-toed boots. He hesitated at the door though.

It was still day-time, would he be able to handle the daylight? Most humans could so why couldn't he? He took a deep breath and opened the door. The high golden grass reminded him of that place, but the sun was so much brighter, so much warmer.

No, he could handle it. He had too. With a steeled look in his eyes, he stepped outside. He could do this. He thought with a small smile tugging at his lips.
