I hated the idea of leaving her after seeing the condition of her kitchen and some of the things she told us but when the King of Hell commands you really can't say no. We left her in the care of Zane and hoped that whatever our father needed from us would be quick. I wasn't comfortable leaving Callie like this, knowing that Eric and our uncle were out there free to attack her.
When we arrive, we go straight to my father's den. He's seated behind his desk looking over a stack of contracts. "Boys, I hate to do this to you, but you need to solidify things with Callie now." I sit down across from him and grab the bottle of scotch off his desk and pour a glass. "We were working on that when you summoned us to come here father. What's transpired that you are rushing us more than usual?" He leans back in his chair and folds his hands in front of himself. "Your uncle is trying to rally the upper tiered families for support in taking the throne." Dameon grips the armrests on the chair he's sitting in, crushing it under his grasp. "How could he do that? We're the rightful heirs, the council wouldn't agree, would they? How much time do we have?" Our father looks from Dameon to me. "A week, maybe two if we're lucky. We all know if he can get the upper tired families to back him and get the council's approval, he could ascend the throne without objection from me." The thought of my uncle as King, makes me see red. He's not what Hell needs, he will ruin everything our father has done. Not only that, but the future of our people could also be in pearl due to the prophecy. How could the council allow that to happen, unless he thinks he's going to marry Callie. Then it hits me, that's his plan. Over my dead body.
The doors burst open and the devil himself comes waltzing in. "Well, if it isn't my favorite nephews and brother." He sits down on the couch adjacent us. Sitting down like he owns the place, like he has no care in the world. "Ivan, what do we owe the pleasure of this visit?" Our father glares at him. "I was hoping to see this woman who's captured the hearts of our future kings. Can't I want to see who my future Queen will be, and my nephews' wife?" I grip the glass in my hand a little too tight breaking it. "Uncle you stay away from her. We know you are haunting her dreams. You've unleashed the hell hounds on her." He gives me a sly smile. "My, my nephew you need to watch that temper of yours. I wanted to see if she was capable of being our future Queen. No harm no fowl." He sits there as if he's done nothing wrong. His mere presence is annoying me. Dameon stands and lunges at him gripping him by his collar and throwing him against the wall. "You are trying to insight fear and doubt. You are trying to discourage her from being with us. Stay out of her dreams, and out of our lives, or we will see to it your life will cease to exist, Uncle." Our uncle laughs as Dameon drops Ivan to the ground. Our father gets up from his chair and stands over his brother, Ivan looks up at him. "Levi, you need to control your sons. I don't appreciate these accusations." Levi reaches down and lifts Ivan up and tightens his grip around our uncles neck. "Ivan, brother I won't say it again. Leave...Her...Alone! Do I make myself clear?" Ivan chokes out. "If I must." Our father drops him and walks back to his desk, continuing to work on his contracts as if nothing happened. He looks up at his brother, his eyes red with anger. "Oh, and Ivan, you must, and you will." Ivan stands and straightens out his suit and glares at us all. "You have gone soft brother." He scowls at our father as he turns and leaves the room.
I turn to Dameon. "He's up to something. She's not safe." Dameon turns to our father who is already up and out of his chair shooing us out of his study. "Do what needs to be done and do it quickly. If your uncle gains control, we are all doomed. She is our salvation." We transport out of the room to the Phoenix Club that Callie is working at. Looks like we will be doing a lot of begging tonight, something we don't ever do.
When we walk into the club, we don't see her on the main floor, nor do we see Zane. We head up to the VIP area where we see her behind the bar. As we approach the bar, we can see a guy talking to Callie. When we heard her tell the guy he had to get past us I almost lost it. She's a little devil in disguise. We all are in some form. I just grin as the guy turns around and sees us. I glare down at him as I tower over him. "Bothering our girl?" I lean against the bar blocking his view of Callie. Dameon went on the other side of him and glared down at him. "I suggest you back off unless you don't value your life." He tries to act all big and bad in front of us. When Callie tells him she was fucking with him he tries to lunge at her. Before he can even get close Dameon has him by the collar of his shirt and throws him backwards. When he turned back to face us his eyes were red. I saw Callie's eyes go wide out of the corner of my eye. Shit, she saw that. We already were going to tell her about who and what we were anyway, so I guess no harm no fowl. We tell her we'll be at the end of the bar waiting for her when she finishes her shift.
