The moment you step foot inside your old room you're hit with an overwhelming wave of memories and nostalgia. You hadn't been to the facility in months, maybe even years. Thing is, you couldn't even remember the last time you were here, and it was just hitting you now. You had completely forgotten about this life, and what it was like living here.
Most of your stuff wasn't here anymore since you moved them to your house with Bucky five years ago, now it was just a room like all the other empty rooms at the facility. After you and Bucky settled back in, the two of you walk down the hallways hand in hand in search of anyone else around the facility. The hallways weren't just empty, you got the same feeling walking around the facility that you got when you arrived in Titan. It was a place that had once been full of life, noise, and people. Now it was a ghost facility, only Natasha lived here now. You had tried to convince her multiple times to get her own place and leave the facility but she was still holding on too tight to the past and you were always unsuccessful.
You get to the common room where you find Steve, Natasha, and Clint. The second you see Clint a small gasp leaves your lips. They really got the team back together.
"Clint?" you say as you approach him, still unable to believe he was standing in the same room as you.
"Y/n, Barnes," he nods towards you.
"It's so good to see you," you smile. "Welcome back."
"Thank you," he says with a hint of a smile.
He looks different, but not just because of the haircut, and the large number of tattoos on his left arm, there's a specific look in his eyes that you'd recognize anywhere. It was the look of someone who had lost those he loved most. You had carried that look for years, and now you saw it on Clint.
The room suddenly falls into an awkward silence, and you clear your throat not knowing what to say. You all know what Clint has been doing for the past five years, but none of you are willing address the elephant in the room.
Before any of you can try to fill the awkward atmosphere with small talk, loud voices coming from the adjacent room catch your attention."I'm being very careful," you hear Bruce say as the five of you approach the room.
"No, you're being very Hulky," Scott retorts.
"I'm being careful!" Bruce raises his voice.
Scott holds up a red glass bottle. "These are Pym Particles, alright? And ever since Hank Pym got snapped out of existence, this is it. This is what we have. We're not making any more," he rushes.
"Scott, calm down," Rhodey intervenes.
Scott sighs. "Sorry. We've got enough for one round trip each. That's it. No do-overs. Plus two test runs." Then, he accidentally presses a button, and shrinks for a few seconds before growing back to his normal size. Scott looks around the room awkwardly. "One test run."
You hear a few sighs of disappointment around the room before Scott speaks up again. "All right, I'm not ready for this."
"I'm game. I'll do it," Clint suddenly says, heads turning towards him in surprise.
After Scott gives Clint the quantum suit and he puts it on, Bruce explains to him how it's gonna feel and what he's supposed to do. You all gather around Bruce who is working on some sort of control panel that you didn't understand, and in front of you is the large glass platform where Clint is standing to travel back in time. You stand in between Bucky and Steve, and you can't help but tug at the end of your black t-shirt nervously as you pray inside your head for this to work.
"All right, Clint," Bruce starts. "We're going in three, two..." as Bruce counts down, a red and white helmet pops on Clint's head. "One!" Just as Bruce finishes, Clint goes quantum and disappears, a silence enveloping the large room.
