Chris:
"Does that mean, she finally remembered you?"
"Not quite, Chaz. I don't know. It's—" I paused for a bit and continued. "It's quite complicated."
I focus my attention on the tee in front of me. I hit it with the driver afterwards, followed by a loud resounding swoosh from the said shot.
"Whoah! That's a cracking tee shot, Christopher! You're getting better these past few days, eh? I do not like what I'm seeing!"
"Piss off! We both know that I'm a much better golfer than you. You should've accepted that fact ages ago!" I said in jest while sticking my tongue out.
His face dropped in utter disbelief. He managed to open his mouth to respond, but his words failed him. He then rolled his eyes instead and responded with,
"Pfft! Just f*** off, Christopher Joseph!"
I burst out laughing from the way how Chaz reacted to what I've said. He's such a big, sulky sod every time I tell him that I'm much better than him when it comes to golf, although he's much of a pro like me as well. We carried our bags and strolled through the first fairway as soon as Chaz hit his tee shot. He dropped me a text inviting me for a bounce game here in Kinross Golf Course while I'm in the middle of my lecture. And yes, for the umpteenth time, I have to leave Bella behind again even though we already made plans of mooching around Kingsgate Shopping Centre this afternoon. But then I promised that I'd spend my whole day with her next time before she turns into a scary dragon snapping angrily back at me.
Ah, Bella! I do hope your future boyfriend will have a million patience like your best friend!
"What did you feel when Mhairi leaned her forehead on yours, dude?" Chaz suddenly uttered out of the blue. "You know, the first time she touched and held your face?" He continued after he managed to hit his second shot. It went straight on the green by the way.
"W-What do you mean? She does that to me all the time when I was little."
I continue on my practice swing to feel the right timing and the right swing to make a good shot.
"Duh! I know that story already, Chrissy dude!" He said in a sarcastic tone. "What I mean is, did you feel something much more when she drew her face near yours after years of waiting? I'm pretty sure you felt something way more than just missing her and the mere fact that you're in love with her."
I froze while feeling the immediate rise of my heartbeat as soon as I made my second shot. The moments from what happened a few days ago suddenly linger, especially the one when Ate Mhairi held my face and leaned her forehead against mine. It's been a long while since she made that sweet gesture to me. You know, those blissful moments when she used to lean her forehead against mine after we teased each other and when she tries to comfort me whenever I got bullied. I know it's wrong but, I so wanted to kiss her at that moment. My heart was racing like it's urging me to claim her mouth to let her know this utmost love that I feel for her.
Yes, I love her. I know for a certain that Mhairi's the only one I want to spend my whole life. Those years of waiting for her encouraged me more to wait for her patiently. But my entire world suddenly crashes and burns when she uttered she couldn't remember me or any memories about me at all. The heartaches piled up when she introduced me to her fiance' together with the announcing of their engagement that night. The space between us has drifted apart ever since. I feel like destiny is trying to test my patience and hard work for the next more years of waiting for her memories of me to come back.
