Chris:"Chris!"
I slightly turn my head as soon as that familiar voice resonates all over the patient's lounge. His footstep turns louder, indicating that the said person is sauntering towards me.
"You... Y-You wanted to speak to me?"
I finally turn around to face the said person. He's on his usual CEO composure even though he's on his casual clothing. I couldn't deny the fact that Markus is way miles ahead compared to me;
He's a much better man to be with Mhairi rather than a jobless, young University student like me.
I pause and gaze at him for a brief while. I retrieve my eyes away and stoop my face down. I'm about to say something when he broke the silence between us.
"How are you by the way? Feeling much better?"
I heaved a deep sigh and answered him back.
"Y-Yes, yes I'm good. I'm still a bit woozy because of my meds but, I feel much better now. Thanks for asking."
"Good. Good to hear that you're much better now. Mhairi's been so worried sick about you since the accident."
Oh right...
Mhairi.
She's the reason why I want to speak to Markus.
"B-By the way, how is she?" I uttered after I puff a deep breath.
Markus saunters again and stands a few steps away from my side. He crosses his arms while stooping his face down.
"S-She's good. Mhairi's been staying with George and Jeannette for two days now. I've decided that we shouldn't see each other before the wedding. She's a bit hesitant at first, but I insisted since it's bad luck if you see your bride a few days before the big day."
Pins and needles have started to prick my aching, sullen heart. Thinking of their upcoming wedding in a few days makes this constricting pain much worse than before;
Way beyond worse after I spoke to Uncle George last week.
It's been four days since that fateful night that nearly took my life to save Mhairi to avoid her getting hit by the bus again for the second time. It's been four; heart-wrenching, melancholic days for me since I've decided to let my unspoken thought to seal the love and relationship between myself, Markus and especially the woman that we both love.
I've asked my GP if I could go home and take a full rest in my house instead. But he insisted that it's not good to release me early that's why I have no choice but to stay here for a few days more to make sure that the injuries I've obtained from the accident have finally healed. I've just finished my last physical therapy session to ensure that all my nerves in my legs are working since I had a critical brain operation after the accident.
"Has Mhairi spoken to you lately?" I uttered, breaking the long silence that surrounded us.
Markus heaves a deep sigh instead of answering me.
"D-Did she manages to speak to you about---"
"Mhairi has finally remembered everything, Chris. She regained all her memories about you and everything that connects between you and her."
