John screamed and jumped a foot in the air. He stared at Alexander with wide eyes panting.
Alex asked, "Are you..ok?"
"I could ask the same thing to you," John mumbled. "Please tell me you aren't joking."
"I'm not joking, John."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am sure," he chuckled.
"Okay, okay, umm.." he trailed off. "What's the name of my turtle?"
"Alex."
"Do I have a treehouse?"
"Yes."
"How tall is it then?"
"Mm...about 25 feet," Alex said.
"What's your favorite ice creams flavor?"
Alexander smiled. "Cookies and cream, John. It's me. Well, it has been the whole time but-"
John engulfed the smaller boy into his arms. He hugged him tightly too afraid to let go.
He sighed contently. "You know that already," he continued laughing afterwards.
"Also when are you ever going to let go?" Alex asked.
John pouted childishly. "Aw, but don't you like John hugs?"
"Well, yes I do-"
"Alexander, it's been a year, ya know?" He muttered. "Let me beee."
"Pfft- alright," Alex grinned. "It'e great to be back."
"Who would think it isn't?"
"Uh, Paine."
"Touchè," he murmured. "I missed you."
"I missed me, too." John rolled his eyes at his remark.
"Am I...interrupting something?"
Both of them looked at who entered the room, Maria, her eyes slightly puffy and red from crying.
"Oh, no, Maria. Hello, how are you?" John said quickly letting go, Alexander doing the same.
Maria looked at him blankly. "John, Pegs nearly died. Do you think I am alright?"
"I know, I'm sorry. That's how I am feeling right now, along with surpriseness, if that's a word."
"I don't think it is," Alex stated.
"Why 'surpriseness'?" She asked.
"I guess it would be better if they hear the news one-by-one," he said. "or else it would lead to chaos." John nodded.
"Um, how do I break this to you.." he started. "So Alex got his memory back," John nervously chuckled.
Maria just stood there for a whole minute trying to process what her friend said. Possibly, she may have forgotten Alex even lost his memory, the news was so sudden, or that it was just too much to take in the current situation. Maybe even all.
Alex started waving his hand on front of Maria's face. "Hello?"
"What? Oh! Sorry, my mind went to Mars," Mars gave a sheepish smiled. "Well, that certainly lifts the mood."
"Anyway, what brings you here?" John asked leading them to sit at the couch.
"I just visited Pegs a few moments ago," she replied opening her phone. "Eliza said y'all went back home, which I assumed is here. And I just came in to see how both of you are doing."
