TIMESKIP

It felt like so many winters have passed, although it has only been a few weeks since the last incident. Things haven't been quite the same as they used to be. The turtles have been spending their days healing and helping Raph to recover, which hasn't been an easy task. During these weeks, Raphael's behaviour seemed to change around (Y/N), even though that wasn't the same case with his brothers; and that wasn't really making the girl happy.

She would keep telling herself that it was just a part of the healing process and that all that occurs between them two is just in her mind, but it was definitely hard to ignore his cold acting. Whenever she would lend a helping hand, it was as if he wasn't really kind about it, and he'd like having her around just because he has to. Just because the leader demanded so. But to whoever she tried to talk about it, she'd always recieve the same answer:

"Raph just needs time. It will all be ok."

Time. Time was the quickest thing that passed by. And time was, apparently, the only thing needed for the hothead to heal; or should he even be called that, anyway?

His physical wounds were the easiest to take care of, but it was not so easy to figure out the reason of his unusual behavior. Why? Why is he acting so strange? (Y/N) is missing the old days they spent together, sharing love, warmth, and just being there for each other. But what happened now?

"Did I do something wrong? Was it something I said?" - The girl tried to think back at her actions, but nothing seemed to come in her mind. But she decided that she's had enough of this. The time has come for them to sit down and talk about it. No more questions unanswered. No more tears. No more confusion.

"Raph?" - (Y/N) knocked at the turtle's door - "May I come in?"

Raphael rolled his eyes in annoyance - "What do you want now?!"

"Just can I?" - The girl frowned, making Raphael give in with a sigh, agreeing to her request.

"Okay, fine." - The screech of the door broke the brief moment of silence that fulfilled the atmosphere, as (Y/N) finally entered. She closed the door of his room behind her, finding Raphael that was sitting on his bed - "So?"

She pulled up the nearest chair proceeding to sit down, cupping her hands together as she began her speech - "We need to talk."

"About what?"

"About you," - The seriousness in her tone was what made the red-masked turtle confused, but he let her finish her point - "about...us."

"What do you mean?" - He asked and sighed in irritation - "Whatever you're try'na say, make it quick. I wanna have my piece right now."

"I'm trying to find a point of where to even start. You've been acting unusual with me, and I'd like to clear things up with you, and also ask you a few questions."

The two made eye contact. Raphael straightened his back a bit before completely turning to look at the teenage girl, who never removed a slight, but sad frown.

"And what would you even like to know? I think you're just making up excuses."

"I don't wanna spend my days asking these constant questions that I won't get an answer to. Not to be rude, but I'm sick of it, and I want you to clearly tell me what you feel about this." - (Y/N) said determined to solve her problems.

"Ugh, get to the point already!"

"Do you love me?"

The room suddenly became silent; the two once lovers facing each other directly making eye contact. The girl's fists were clenched and her eyes were filled with an urgent desire but also fear. She was afraid to get the answer; afraid of the outcome of their relationship. However, his emerald eyes were filled with shock by the unexpected question the teenager in front of him just asked. What did she even mean? Was he so reckless to forget? But to her, it seemed as if he would rather get rid of her as soon as possible than even try to answer that silly question of hers. But she didn't waste time on this, she didn't want to. She needed these answers, and she needed them now, otherwise when would she ever get the chance to speak to him when he keeps ignoring her?

"Do you?!" - Her eyes were starting to shine due to all the tears she was trying to keep inside, but her voice sounded so broken, yet so angrily afraid. The more time that was wasted in silence, the worse the pain would be; that's what she thought.

The turtle then decided to speak in a confused tone, not really sure how to reply to this. Although, he did have an answer prepared - "Love you?"

"Yes! Do you?! Do I even ask much??"

"I...I don't even know you, woman! I have no idea why Leo keeps ya around, but in my opinion, you can even leave this lair! I don't even remember if we ever met and when! So stop wasting my time with your confusing statements or whatever, and just leave me alone!"

(Y/N)'s heart sank, shattering into millions and millions of pieces. That was it. Her worst fear just came true in front of her eyes, and this time it wasn't one of those nightmares she used to have. No, this was a cruel reality she was living in. This was the honest truth being spoken right before her eyes. And most importantly, this was her 'lover' talking. This was her hell hole she was being pulled in, not being able to escape. She let the silent tears fall down her cheeks, as she gathered up a bit of courage to speak the last words before leaving - "I see..."

And with that, the poor girl got up from the chair she sat on, opening the door of his room and exiting with a frown, heading to pack up her things. While packing her bag, she was silently crying, letting out quiet sobs when nobody was around, but that wasn't even the half of the pain she felt at this point. At this moment she felt like all her ships have sunk to the very bottom of her sea; the sea she made with him. Their love turned to ashes, and her heart was shattered while his was still proudly beating. He lied so good, it didn't even look like a lie. He sounded so convincing that she easily believed his words, not doubting them a single time. With a sob, (Y/N) speed walked towards the exit of their lair, entering the echoing sewers and finally making her way out. On her way home, she never stopped crying, her heart was so sore that it was unbearable and she wasn't even trying to bear it. She was so weak now, and she felt like she'll give up any moment now.

MOMENTS LATER

"(Y/NNNN)? (Y/N), you there?" - A young voice called from the distance - "C'mon dudette, I'm bored! I wanna do something!" - He walked towards the room where she was during her stay. No answer; no voice speaking in return. That's what made the freckled brother frown in confusion. He gently opened the door - "(Y/N)? Do you even-" - He stopped as he spotted a white piece of paper left on the counter nearby. The girl was nowhere to be seen. He walked inside, giving the paper a glance out of curiosity. What he read did not satisfy him one bit. Michelangelo frowned.

"Leonardo,

if you see this, I am sorry to tell you that I cannot spend my days here any longer. I've come to the conclusion that I need some time off as well, but don't worry, I'm not going away forever. I'd be more than glad if you decide to respect my decision and once again, I'm sorry for disobeying your order. I hope you and your brothers will heal.

With best regards
(Y/N)"
