chp 8

Mathew pov-

Ed-"my lord the new servant hallow has begun his training"

Mathew-"good I knew he would come around all because of my good looks"

Ed-"my lord if I may he told me he was doing it for himself and that you did nothing"
I looked Ed shocked that he said those words how offensive but I know it's because he was just repeating hallows words.

Ed-"sorry my lord"

Mathew-"it's fine anyway any other news?"

Ed-"yes sir umm the treaty of the west has been terminated"

Mathew-"wait that can't be possible!?"

Ed-"yes it is general over the west told me that right now they are planning a attack against you"

Mathew-"this war never stops ugh tell nobody about this I don't want the people to worry nor my servants just tell the defenses to raise and be on guard"

Ed-"yes sir I will"

I sat there pressing my hands to my temple trying to relive the headache I had started developing. When out of the blue a loud crash was heard from the east wing I got up wondering which one of the servants fell today probably one of the maids. I got to the hallway to see hallow- with a pile of books scattered every where and a worried look on his face.

Mathew-"wow what are those for?"

As I asked hallow jumped slightly and sighed knowing it was me.

Hallow"sheesh you scared me what do you need my lord?"

Mathew-"Nothing just want to know what my servants up too what's so wrong about that?"

Hallow-"there's nothing wrong and I was just getting books to learn educate and fighting I am clueless when it comes to any of that"

Mathew-"need help picking them up?"

Hallow-"no it's fine I got it"

As he picked up the books I just noticed his new uniform that all my butlers wear and his hair now in a small ribbon to the side of his head.

Mathew-"so how you liking being servant of the most powerful man in the country?"

Hallow-"ehh it's ok"

Mathew-"what do you mean ok!?"

Hallow-"I mean personally I'd rather be dead but I'll try to work to be the best  but I don't care about titles my lord they bore me"

I stared at him as he picked up the last book and waved goodbye.
What who doesn't want to be high ranked gosh if he were any other servant I would've ditched him but he's quite interesting.

Hallow pov-

Days feel long now that I've committed to this it crazy how much stuff you have to know before you become a royal servant who came up with this bull crap I sat there reading book after book about manors, family relationship, history, cooking, dressing, and so much more.

The king is my least favorite person in the castle his personality throws me off it's so pretentious and high and mighty and not to mention the fact he's my new master and he's a total child. After thinking that I sigh with stress thinking over and over until I felt my head was going to explode.

*Knock*knock

I look up from my chair in the library to see Ed standing.

Hallow-"oh hello Ed do you need something?"

Ed-"no I came to ask a favor..um could assist the lord at his banquet this weekend?"

Hallow-"uh are you sure I just have a week of training and I don't know if I can"

Ed-"just this once I have to run arrends for the king and can't attend as his right hand please "

Hallow-"ok fine but just this once ok"

Ed-"thanks I owe you one"

As waved goodbye I felt utterly anger at myself why did I say yes?
