Hey everyone :)

This is kind of a long chapter & you'll learn a little bit about Aubrey's life and backstory which is very sad :(

Anyways, hope you guys like this one!!

Aubrey's Point of View:

"I'm sorry, how can I help you?" I asked my eyes darting from Nate to the officer who was an inch away from my face.

I blinked a few times out of pure confusion and chewed my lower lip out of a bad anxious habit. I felt as my bottom lips began to turn raw due to the constant chewing which was ultimately disgusting. I swallowed and looked up at the officer with nervous but also confused eyes.

"Hello, I'm Officer West." the officer in front of me said as I nodded my head.

He fished around in the front pocket on his navy colored shirt and pulled out a badge to show me that he was who he claimed to be. He showed my the badge, the tips of his fingers were over parts of the badge as he held it for me to see. My eyes scanned over the tiny font and his picture, and yeah that's officer West.

"And I'm officer Lanes." the other officer said who was standing in front of Nate. Nate smirked cockily at the officer whilst chewing his gum obnoxiously.

"Are you Miss Aubrey Clair?" Officer West asked me as I swallowed the lump in my throat and nodded my head softly.

"Nate DeRosé?" Officer Lanes said to Nate. Nate was a little taller than the officer, and looked down at him.

Nate was leaning against the door opening and had crossed arms. His right foot was pointed towards the ground, the toe of his combat boot digging into the carpeted floor underneath him. He had his right foot crossed over his left and he was staring directly into the officers eyes. Nate's pretty lean, he's muscular too- but Nate's also skinny in a way? The officer who was in front of him may have been shorter than Nate, but he was bigger. He looked extremely buff and looked like he could snap me in half. The guy is just big.

"Hi, is there a problem?" said a British accent out of nowhere. I watched Nate roll his eyes, like as if he thought Brendan didn't think he could handle an encounter with a few police on his own.

I'm actually happy that Brendan came out though, because I don't know how Nate would be with the police. Also Brendan being here just makes everything feel safer for some reason. I couldn't tell you what it is, but right now I feel more at ease than I did a few seconds ago.

Brendan stepped next to Nate as now they were both standing in the wide doorway. Nate leaned against the doorway with crossed arms staring at the molding that surrounded the edges of the door. Brendan stood there also with crossed arms leaning against the other side but was facing the officers and acknowledging their presence... unlike Nate who was staring at Brendan.

"We need both of you to come with us." Officer West told me, still an inch in front of my face. His breath smelt like tobacco and beer, I tried my hardest to not gag.

"Me?" I asked, feeling confused. I looked up at the officer with wide eyes and he gave me a friendly smile.

"Yes, don't worry you're not in trouble or anything." he said as a wave of relief swarmed over me.

Like why am I even relieved, what could I have possibly done to have gotten into trouble.

"We need to have you examined." said the other officer.

"Examined?" I repeated what he just said.

"From the party last night. We just want to take a look at the bruises you may have." he said as I didn't want to go with them to get examined, but complied anyways and nodded.
