43: Unforeseen moment

"Grandma! Grandma look at me! Come on!" Chaeyoung shouted as she taps the cheek of her grandma.

"T-the organ donor! Yes! Uhm they'll be here so... So..." Chaeyoung cried.

"Aigooo my baby cub" her grandma smiled and with all the energy left in her, she touched Chaeyoung's face.

"No... This is too early... Eomma... Jeonghoon... Tell her" Chaeyoung looked at the two. They can only look at her apologetically.

Although they are hurting too, they were told to just accept it.

"Goddammit! Where's the doctor!?" Chaeyoung shouted and went out the ward.

"Chaeyoung... Come back here..." her grandma forced herself to say.

Chaeyoung looked back and tears fell once more. She went back and cried more.

"I'll always be with you okay? Before I die, I want to say that I'm very proud of you. All the hard work and efforts you've made just to find your father is touching and I'm sorry that you haven't found him still..." her grandma smiled sadly.

"My heart aches whenever I see you with dark circles around your eyes. Tiredness whenever you talk. Back pain and you're just a child still" her grandma chuckled.

"But this is what I really want to say... Come closer" her grandma commanded and Chaeyoung went closer.

"I know for how many years you've been keeping this a secret and cub, I accept you. You're still the Son Chaeyoung I know. You're kind. You always look on the brighter side of things. You are one of a kind" her grandma gave a big sighed.

"G-grandma?" Chaeyoung stuttered and her eyes are welling up again.

"I say, you do whatever you want as long it makes you happy and it doesn't step on other people. I know cub. I know how you look at your friend. I know that look very well. And so, if ever the two of you get married-"

"Grandma~" Chaeyoung chirted and wiped her tears.

"I'm serious, if you two get married. In seriously going to visit you in your dreams" her grandma said and smiled.

"Scary but I wouldn't mind" Chaeyoung said and smiled and a tear fell.

She held her grandma's hand tightly. Looking at the pale face. She saw how her grandma is having a hard time breathing. And how her grandma smiled until her last breath.

"G-grandma..." Chaeyoung silently cried. Her mother and brother hugged her from behind. Crying also.

"It's time Chaeyoung..." her mom said and she nodded.

She stood up and looked at her grandma one last time before they cover her in a white cloth.

She went home with a broken heart. Her grandma. The one who support and believes in her strongly is now gone.

"Do you want us to stay with you?" her mom asked.

"I... I would like to be alone for awhile... I hope you don't mind..." Chaeyoung said an dher mom nodded.

They dropped her off to he rhpuse and kissed her cheeks before driving off.

As soon as Chaeyoung went in, she broke down again. Back on the door. Head tucked in her arms. Knees close to the body. Tears streaming down endlessly.

She forced herself to stand up and walk to her living room. Hand on the wall for support.

She threw herself to the couch and cried silently until she falls asleep.

Two weeks in, Mina is ready than ever to come back to Korea. Not only does she feel "genki" but she's also excited to see Chaeyoung. Oblivious of what happened to her.
