After a splendid and joyful hour or so of stuffing themselves and then spending another half hour casually sitting and conversing with each other under the sun to help digest their meal, it was time for Hana and Lucas to open their presents from the guests. Although it was a joint party, many of the guests brought one present as Logan said that it was okay for a single gift.

First off, Hugo's present was a sippy cup for the one-year-old with designs of spacecraft and cute alien heads.

From Seth and Hailey, they had pitched in and bought a hammock. In Hailey's joking letter, she forbade Logan from using it because it was only for the mother and son. Logan scowled at her, and although he meant to get back at Hailey, his lighthearted insult attacked Hana when he said that Hana would break the hammock instead, so Hana pinched his cheeks in return, causing laughter.

Next, Jake brought a kid's inflatable swimming pool. He too had a note jokingly saying that since he bought it, he had the right to come over and swim in it whenever he wanted to.

Sylvia, who shared her gift with her friend Rena, bought a diaper bag for Hana, which she noted that Hana should designate the smaller compartment for Lucas and the bigger compartment for Logan.

Logan didn't expect an insulted arrow from the quiet friend, so all he could do was make a shocked face and commented that Sylvia was hanging too much around Jake and was gradually getting influenced by Hailey's way of speaking.

Along with Sylvia's present was Ken's. Both Ken and Rena couldn't make it to the party because of cram school, so they had asked Sylvia to bring their gifts over instead. Earlier, they had called Hana on Logan's cell phone—because her phone died—and wished her and Lucas a wonderful birthday and baby shower.

Lastly, but not least, from the daycare center was the director. She and the staff also pitched in on the present, but they had two. Their first present was a vanilla-colored mini swing set that seemed easy to put together and use. It even came with mini buttons that when pressed, it made sounds. As for their second present, the director explained that it was a present from a person who occasionally visited Lucas in the early afternoon.

"I had asked of her countless times to stay and wait for your arrival from school," said the daycare director, "but she always leaves in a hurry."

Hana and Logan looked at each other with confusion. Who would buy a stranger's kid a gold necklace with a gold pendant engraved with Lucas's initial? Besides, everyone who knew about the true relationship between the teens and Lucas was here. So, who could it be?

While Hana gave it further thought, Logan ended the tense atmosphere by thanking the staff for the gifts. He didn't want to make this curiosity something more than it shouldn't be. Moreover, he didn't want his worrywart friend to be focused on the safety of their virtual son.

After all had been said, the mood was quickly lightened up with Logan bringing their attention to desserts. The humor and entertainment resumed for another hour or so until four in the evening, and people started leaving to tend other errands, one by one. At the end of the day, Hugo was the last to stay. He helped Logan cleaned the backyard, put things away in the garage, and got rid of the decorations in the house while they allowed Hana and Lucas to lounge around in the living room.

To abuse her special treatment, Hana purposely ordered Logan around, telling him to make sure every nook and cranny was wiped, cleaned, and dusted. When he was wiping the coffee table in front of her and his back was turned to her, she rested a leg on his back. He turned around, frowned, and to her surprise, he put her foot down and massaged it for her.

"Oh." She smiled, liking the additional service she didn't expect.

He smiled back at her. "Sorry that you had a long walk today. Your feet must've hurt a lot, huh?"
