Chapter 10

I knock once and then open the door because either way they won't hear me knocking and I'm not big on ringing the door bell. We walk inside with Asante nervous beside me

"Relax, my parents are going to love you and so will my siblings"

I promise but she's unmoved

"No, you shouldn't have ambushed me like this. You could have warned me"

She protest

"Ok then I am sorry. It won't happen again, can we just try to enjoy the evening?"

She doesn't respond

"Cici"

I say as we walk into the kitchen

"Aaron"
she turns around and throws herself in my arms, I pick her up and spin her around before placing her down

"This is my girlfriend Asante"

She turns to Asante and she smiles full teeth and all

"You so beautiful"

Is the first thing my sister says before pulling Asante into a bone crushing hug. I can't help smile because of Cici likes her then everyone else will

"thank you. You beautiful too, you must be Sienna"

Asante says as they break the hug

"Nice to meet you"

Cici says with a smile

"like wise"

She says

"Where are the parents and Songz?"

I ask as we walk to the couch

"Songz is upstairs and the parents are out in the garden"

Sienna responds and I nod taking her hand into mine

"shall we?"

I lead the way to the dinning room into a sliding door that leads to a beautiful green grassed garden with different kinds of flowers.

"This is beautiful"

She says nervously as we step into the lawn

"yeah it is, it's a sanctuary"

I keep bumping into her childishly to make her relax more, she giggles in between

"Parents"

I call out because they are taking a walk at a far distance. They halt to a stop and turn around to wait for us

"Aaron..."

Mom says and she freezes
"And a girlfriend"

Dad adds as we approach them

"This is my mother Adriene and my father Sanele Langa"

I introduce and mom pulls her into her arms, I won't lie I thought she would be a little more difficult considering she never really likes the girls I bring home but Asante is different

"Oh honey she is so beautiful. It's so good to finally meet Aaron's girlfriend"

Mom says breaking the hug

"You have a beautiful home Mah"

Asante says nervously

"Hello Mr Langa"
She says shaking my dad's hand

"Nice to meet you too, Miss?"

Dad asks

"Makula"

Asante responds and dad nods. We talk a bit while headed inside, the evening progresses and soon we are sitting around the dinner table and my family is sharing stories

"I had Aaron when I was 16 and his father was 19"

Mom says and Asante gasps

"Yeah I know, I rushed into grown ups things. Sienna that doesn't mean you are allowed to go out and fall pregnant"

Mom says and we all laugh

"What about me? I'm 21"

I say and Asante shoots me a death glare making everyone laugh

"Relax. I won't be making anyone pregnant anytime soon"

I assure all of them

"So what about you Asante? Where is your family? Aaron told us you were from Mthatha, my husband's parents were originally from Mthatha too"

Mom says Asante drinks water uncomfortably

"Both my parents died"

She says and mom gasps in shock

"Oh honey I am so sorry to hear that"
she says and then she looks at me and I shrug. Not that she never told me but I didn't think it important to mention to my family

"Thank you. I was young and I barely have any memories of them"

She says, I place my hand over Asante's and she smiles politely

"Aaron usually brings home weird girls. You are the first one that I actually like and find very sweet and charming"

Mom says and I shoot her a look

"Mom please, don't embarrass yourself. I have only ever introduced one girl to you guys and that was only because you caught me trying to sneak her out"

I say and they all laugh

"Well she was still weird"

Mom argues, Sienna stands up to pack up the dishes

"I'll help you"

Asante offers and Sienna smiles

"You don't have to, you're a guest here. Aaron will help me"

She says and I shoot her a look

"Go on, help her out. We won't hurt your girlfriend"

Mom says as we take the dishes to the kitchen

"She's so reserved and quiet. I like her"

Sienna says the minute we are out of reach from everyone else

"Yeah well that's exactly why I introduced her. She's different"
I admit and she smiles while placing the dishes in the sink

"You seem happy"

She says and I frown

"Where is the dessert again?"
I ask her and she laughs

"So you not going to answer me?"

She asks

"No I am not"

I say opening the fridge. I take out the dessert and place it on the counter

"You'll manage without me"

I say and then walk out leaving her protesting. I walk into the dinning area and I find mom asking Asante about school and her course and her modules

"I am a psychologist too and I can tell you this, it is not an easy job but should you need help with anything I am your go to"

Mom says confidently

"Yeah, she graduated with somo cum laude so you'll be in safe hands"
