26. EXT JACK'S GARDEN, THE DEN 17:00 DAY DAY 4

BERTY AND JACK ARE WALKING THROUGH THE DEN HEADING OVER TO THE BAR.

BEFORE THEY GET INSIDE BERTY TAKES JACK ASIDE.

BERTY: 

Kid today is our weekly meeting. So a few things I need to tell you. Don't talk.

JACK STARES AT BERTY

BERTY:

I mean it, it will only complicate things.

JACK:

But, but what if they ask me a question?

BERTY:

They won't.

JACK:

But what if they do, what should I do, what should I say.

BERTY:

Do what I told you, don't talk. It's for your own good

JACK:

(Hesitantly)

Okay.

BERTY:

Good now come with me, I will show you around and properly introduce you to a few people.

BERTY AND JACK CONTINUE WALKING THROUGH THE DEN.

BERTY:

You'll see a lot more of us now cause everyone has just about finished work and we all come in here to get a drink, warm up or in some cases cool down. Depending on where they've been working.

BERTY POINTS TO A GROUP OF BUTTERFLIES FLAPPING AWAY IN THE CORNER.

BERTY:

Over there you will see the butterflies.

JACK:

Wow they're beautiful, look at their huge wings.

BERTY:

Yes they are. They used to fight a lot because someone (Looks at Jack).... We blame the humans no offence kid, said that they were different.

JACK:

And they fell for that?

BERTY:

My sentiments exactly. They are exactly the same, yes they may vary in colour but who doesn't, they all look the same to me anyway. Beautiful creatures.

JACK POINTS TO THE MOSQUITOS WHO ARE SITTING BY THE BAR

JACK:

Who are they?

BERTY:

Kid where have you been. They're the mosie's, though they hate that name by the way.

JACK JUMPS BACK AND STANDS CLOSLY NEXT TO BERTY

JACK:

(Scared)

Mosquito's! Will they bite me?

BERTY:

Heck no, they hate human blood, it's the least of their targets. It's only those who are desperate and have gone without food for a considerable amount of time that target humans, they tend to stay away otherwise. If you were a cow or a dog however then I will tell you to hide under a shell.
