18. INT THE KITCHEN DAY 17:00 DAY 3
BACK AT JACK'S HOUSE EVERYONE IS SITTING AROUND THE DINNER TABLE.
MUM:
Dear can you call Jack I don't think he heard me.
DAD:
(Shouts)
Jack come downstairs your dinner is ready.
MUM:
I meant go up and get him, don't you think I already did that.
DEREK:
I'll do it mum
(Shouts)
Jack I'm going to eat your dinner if you don't come down in the next five seconds.
DAD:
Derek enough of that, I will go and get him.
DAD MUMBLES TO HIMSELF
What could be keeping him this time.
DAD WALKS UP THE STAIRS AND KNOCKS ON JACK'S BEDROOM DOOR.
DAD:
Jack. Son, can I come in?
DAD WAITS FOR AN ANSWER BUT GETS NONE. HE SLOWLY WALKS IN TO FIND NO ONE THERE. DAD WALKS AROUND THE ROOM TO SEE IF HE CAN SEE WHERE JACK IS.
Jack, Jack. Where are you? I hope you're not playing a silly game. Your dinner is getting cold and your mother would like us all to say grace.
JACK'S DAD CONTINUES LOOKING AROUND HIS ROOM, UNTIL FINALLY HE TURNS AND HEADS INTO HIS ROOM AND CALLS OUT HIS NAME.
Jack, Jack!
JACK'S DAD RUNS DOWN THE STAIRS AND BACK INTO THE KITCHEN WITH A WORRIED LOOK ON HS FACE.
Jack's not in his room!
JACK'S MUM STOPS AND TURNS TOWARDS JACKS DAD
MUM:
What do you mean he's not in his room?
DAD:
He is not in his room, he is not upstairs. I have called out for him and nothing.
MUM:
I thought you said you saw him go up to his room earlier today just after you came home.
DAD:
I thought I did
DEREK:
No you didn't, that was me dad. I was putting something back in his room. I haven't seen Jack either, I thought he was downstairs in your office.
DAD:
The study!
JACK'S DAD HEADS STRAIGHT TO HIS OFFICE, IN HOPE THAT HE WILL FIND JACK. JACK'S MUM, MOLLY AND DEREK ALL FOLLOW ON BEHIND HIM. JACK'S DAD COMES OUT WITH A WORRIED LOOK ON HIS FACE.
MOLLY
Is Jack there?
JACK'S DAD SHAKES HIS HEAD, AND JACK'S MUM GASPS AND QUICKLY COVERS HER MOUTH.
MUM:
Where could he be?
DAD:
I'll call around to see if anyone has seen him. I'm sure it will be fine dear.
MUM:
Did he say he was going to friends after school?
DAD:
I'm not sure. You all go and finish eating your dinner. I'll make the call.
JACK'S MUM, MOLLY AND DEREK HEAD BACK TOWARDSTHE KITCHEN, WHILE JACK'S DAD HEADS TO THE LIVING ROOM TO MAKE A FEW CALLS.
