8. INT KITCHEN DAY 08:00 DAY 2

THE WHOLE FAMILY ARE IN THE KITCHEN. JACK AND MOLLY ARE EATING THEIR BREAKFAST, WHILE DEREK AND DAD ARE LISTENING TO THE RADIO. MUM IS WASHING THE DISHES.

MUM:

Come on you two, we have to start finishing up and heading out the door pretty soon.

JACK:

(Scoffing the last pieces of cornflakes into his mouth)

I have nearly finished.

DAD:

No need to rush, we do have fifteen more minutes, I don't want you getting indigestion.

DEREK:

(Shouts)

All right, we made it.

DAD:

Yes! Now all we have to do is beat Finigan and that trophy is practically ours.

MUM:

That's it you two, no talking around the table about sports, you know how I feel about that.

DEREK:

Yes mum, you don't want us to talk about it because Jack and Molly will feel bad. But we all know that you mean Jack, because he can't catch a ball, yet alone hold it.

JACK:

Yes I can catch a ball.

MUM:

That's it you two. (Looks at dad) See this is what I mean.

DAD:

(Nods)

Derek and Jack how many times do I have to tell you to stop teasing each other its not nice, and you're setting a bad example for your sister. Do me and your mother argue and tease each like that?

BOTH JACK AND DEREK SHAKE THEIR HEADS.

DEREK:

But that's because you both love each other.

DAD:

And you don't love each other, your brothers for heavens sake?

MUM:

(Raises her hands to the sky)

My own sons don't even love each other, I cannot believe it, where did I go wrong.

DAD:

Dear there's no need to get all dramatic over this, Derek was only joking. (looks over at Derek) Weren't you?

DEREK:

(Shrugs)

Yeah.

JACK:

Well I do love Derek, he just doesn't always love me.

DAD:

Ok I think that's enough for the breakfast table, lets get ready for school. Derek what time is Katy's mum picking you up.

KATY'S MUM BEEPS HER CAR HORN FROM OUTSIDE. DEREK JUMPS UP FROM HIS SEAT.

DEREK:

That's her now, bye mum, bye dad.

MOLLY WAVES DEREK GOODBYE

DAD:

Bye son.

MUM:

Have a good day. (Turns to Jack) Ok you have five more minutes and then I'm taking you to school.

JACK NODS HIS HEAD AND QUICKLY FINISHES EATING HIS BREAKFAST.

DAD:

When you get home we can go through our little project if you like.

JACK:

(Looks up from eating his toast)

That will be great dad.
