16. EXT JACK'S BACK GARDEN 7:15AM DAY DAY 3

JACK IS OUTSIDE, SITTING IN HIS PARENTS BACK GARDEN, BUT IS NO BIGGER THAN AN ANT.

JACK SLOWLY GETS UP.

JACK:

Oh no, where am I? I can't see a thing, apart from this...what is this.

JACK TOUCHES THE GRASS BLADE WITH HIS FINGERS. ITS A LOT BIGGER THAN WHAT HE'S USED TOO, AS ONE BLADE ENGULFS THE FULL PALM OF HIS HAND. JACK IS MESMERIZED BY THE BLADE.

Is this grass, a grass blade. Coooool!

JACK BEGINS TO HEAR MARCHING COMING FROM BEHIND HIM. JACK QUICKLY TURNS AROUND, BUT SEE'S NOTHING. THE MARCHING IS GETTING LOUDER. THE GRASS BLADES RUSTLE AND JACK FINALLY SEE'S A WHOLE ARMY OF ANTS.

ANT 1:

One, two. One, two. One, two.

THE ANT ARMY PASSES JACK AS THEY CONTINUE TO MARCH ALONG.

JACK:

Coool. Where is a camera when you need one?

JACK TURNS AROUND, ONLY SEE A LARGE LONG GARDEN WORM.

JACK:(Screams)

Ahhh!

THE WORM LOOKS AT JACK BUT CONTINUES ON SLITHERING THROUGH THE GRASS.

JACK:

Yuck, I hate worms.

SUDDENLY THE WORM STOPS AND LOOKS BACK AT JACK, AS IF HE HEARD HIM.

JACK:

(Quickly responds)

Not you....

(To himself) wow they can hear me?

JACK LOOKS ALL AROUND HIM. HE HAS NO IDEA WHERE HE IS BUT CAN PRETTY MUCH SEE THAT HE IS OUTSIDE IN SOMEONES GARDEN, BUT WHO'S....?

JACK THINKS OF HOW HE IS GOING TO TELL HIS DAD WHAT HE HAS DONE, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY HOW IS HE GOING TO GET BACK TO HIS ORIGINAL SIZE. THESE THOUGHTS DART ACROSS JACKS EIGHT-YEAR-OLD BRAIN AS THE THOUGHT OF WHAT TO DO REPEATS IN HIS MIND.

JACK:

I know, maybe I could walk back.

JACK SHAKES HIS HEAD

No, that would take me weeks, maybe even months to do that.

JACK LOOKS IN HIS POCKETS TO SEE WHAT HE CAN FIND.

JACK:

Great, all I have is a toothpick, a rubber and dad's keys to the office. (Puts his hand on his head) Oh No! I'm going to be in so much trouble.

JACK THEN BEGINS TO HEAR A RUSTLING NOISE COMING FROM BEHIND HIM. JACK TURNS AND SEE'S A LARGE BEETLE COMING TOWARDS HIM.

JACK:

(Screams)

Ahhh please don't eat me. Please don't eat me.

MR BUG:

(Rough voice)

As if. What are you anyway?

JACK SLOWLY LOOKS UP AT THE BUG. HE NOTICES HIS HARD SHELL AND SCARY FACE, BUT HIS TONE IS NOT ONE OF A KILLER. HE HAS A POSH ENGLISH ACCENT.

I said what are you? Are you new to this part of the garden? Berty really should have introduced me. Hello my name is Mr Bug.

THE LARGE BEETLE EXTENDS HIS HAND FOR JACK TO SHAKE. JACK IS STILL IN A STATE OF SHOCK THAT THIS BEETLE CAN SPEAK AND THAT HE CAN ACTUALLY HEAR HIM.
