Making the final adjustments in the mirror, you tugged at the red belt across your navy blue long sleeved, flowy knee high dress with buttons that ran down the front to the waist. You tucked a loose piece of hair into your low messy side bun and wiped at some eyeliner that somehow made it on to your cheek. For the few times you were thrust into the spotlight for Jamie's sake, your perfectionist streak ran amok. You only hoped that the kids would behave and not mess up their clothes or yours.

After double checking your hair and makeup for the 10th time, you grabbed the red stage heels you intended to wear and made your way to the living room to check on the kids. They were mostly able to get themselves dressed but sometimes needed help with the finishing details. Dhani was already in her dress with a similar cut to your own, black velvet on top with long sleeves but with a red floral pattern on the peplum skirt bottom, black stockings and her favorite black shiny patent leather ballerina flats with a bow in the front that were gifted to her by her father. While Asher wore a burgundy wool sweater over his small navy blue checkered button down shirt that matched well with his father's suit, dark washed jeans and little dark brown dress boots. "Dhani come sit on the chair so I can do your hair." She excitedly jumps on the chair as if she was at a hair salon ready to get her hair done for the special occasion.

"Mommy can you fix my hair like yours?"

"But you have such pretty long hair. I'm going to do a small french braid along the front of your head like a crown. Okay"

"But I want it up!" She crosses her arms and pouts her lip. You weren't really in the mood for one of her little temper tantrums and use the excuse that always works on her.

"But daddy loves your hair when it's down. And tonight is a very special occasion for him. We need to make him feel really happy tonight. I'm sure he'll love it if your hair is down."

She sits there for a moment thinking about it and eventually agrees. You however compromise and let her have a half up and half down hairdo. Once you finish you ask her to sit on the couch and play with her tablet so as to not get her dress dirty or her hair messy. You now focus your attention on Asher.

"Asher! Can you come to the kitchen please!" You yell out.

Moments later he appears, dress shirt untucked and shoes untied.

"Yes mommy?"

"Asher wny haven't you tied your shoes? We are almost leaving." You move closer to him and bend down and help him tuck his shirt

"I don't know...do I have to wear all this?" He whines as you are now fixing the collar of his dress shirt.

"Yes squirt, you have to. We are going to a special event for your Dad. And you always look so handsome like him when you get dressed up." You kiss his cheek and ruffle his moppy hair.

"Ew mom." He wipes his cheek where you kissed him.

"Don't make me kiss you again!" You pull him into a hug and start tickling him and kissing him on his cheek. Giggles and screams coming from him. You finally release him after he can barely breathe from all the laughter. Asher's bowl cut was getting a little long and in his eyes so you brushed it to the side and hoped it stayed like that at least until the end of the ceremony. You help him tie his shoes and send him off with his tablet in hand to the couch to sit beside Dhani. You head back up to your bedroom and apply the finishing touches. You spray on your favorite perfume, put on your wedding ring and the silver pandora bracelet Benn had gifted to you when the twins turned two, with four charms: a baseball, and the initials of the three, JB, DB and AB. You take one final look at the mirror and head to sit down with the twins and await for Benn.
