War is hell.
There is no other way to describe watching people die, whether it be at the hands of the ones you hate, at the hands of the ones you'll die to protect, or even you.
It's hell, and nothing could satiate the inner turmoil Aria was experiencing as she sprinted across the battle field.
She'd walked the people who'd trusted her with their lives into the underworld, and some of them would never be able to leave again.
Everything hurt. It felt like she was getting stabbed in her left leg with every step she took, and blood was running down the right side of her face into her eye, making it sting. Her armor was covered in blood, including her own, her hair was dirty and matted, and her left breast padding was ripped entirely open from when a diamond had tried to pierce her well hidden gem. Unlike many other gems, Aria did not leave her gem outside of her armor; it just never felt right. But now, her gem was gleaming in the sunlight and casting a slight orange glow on the battle field before her as she ran as fast as she could with her tired, overworked body.
She couldn't stop running, not even for a second, to treat her wounds. She had to get back to where the last of her team was. The battle was not going in their favor, and Aria had lost too many men as it was. She'd left to guide the rest of her team back to the ship, making sure no one was ambushed on the way. But of course, Jade-beom and Millie were more warriors than anything else, so they had stayed behind to stop anyone from following the retreating gems, and also to face off with the diamond leaders.
Aria wanted to argue with them with everything in her, to beg them both to come with her, but she knew it'd be a waste of time. Time they really didn't have.
The scenery around her was a rushing blur as she neared where she'd left Millie and Jade beom.
Terror flooded her veins as soon as she met the eyes of her love and her brother.
They both were beaten up severely and down on their knees with swords to both of their necks. She moved to run straight toward them, and fight anyone who tried to stop her, but a voice made her freeze in place.
"Ah ah ah. One more step, and they both die."
Aria's blood boiled as she obeyed, all the while glaring hot fiery daggers into the face of this BITCH.
Lisa.
"I have dreamed of this moment so many times, Aria sweetie." the blonde said, amusement clear in her voice.
"It felt like a wet dream sometimes, how excited it made me imagining the look on your face when the moment finally came when you realized why diamonds are the superior gem."
Millie's expression was stony as usual. But Jade-beom? Jade-beom looked absolutely empty. Aria scanned his face briefly, her heart aching for him with sympathy, and burning for Lisa with a vengeance.
"This was so intricately planned that none of you rocks had the slightest inkling, especially the one who thought I was in love with him. I used him to breach your ranks. Even when you didn't think I was watching, I was watching This was all made possible because the lovely Jade-beom fell right into my trap."
Lisa was laughing hysterically. The other diamonds only shook their heads and smirked. Then every leader turned on their heels, and began leaving Lisa and the two soldiers holding the swords behind, as if they were leaving the situation in her hands because the whole thing was beneath them.
It took everything in Aria to maintain her stillness. She was so close. They were all right there in arms reach and she still failed. She bit the inside of her cheek to keep from cursing out. Jade-beom looked up with the most pitiful look on his face and mouthed 'I'm so sorry.'
