Ponyboy's POV
Y/n had been missing all morning and she never misses breakfast. So I went out to look for her. I checked the lot, Dx, Dingo, Drive-in, but she was nowhere to be found. I thought she might have gone to the library so I turned to the next block and saw her sitting with a boy. I have never seen this boy before but there was something about him that didn't seem right.
"Y/n, where have you been? I was looking for you everywhere, you have Two-bit worried"i said walking up to them
"Oh hey Ponyboy, sorry i forgot to call" Y/n said
"Well, I'm going to leave you two to talk, I'll see you around Y/n"The guy said getting up
"Oh why don't you come with us, you can meet the gang"Y/n suggested
"I would but I gotta get going or my aunt is going to turn into a monster and we don't want that so I'll see you around Y/n" he said
"Yeah see you around, lucas and thank you" Y/n said
"No worries" he waved goodbye. So his name is Lucas huh?
"Where have you been? i was so worried" i said
"Sorry some man tried to hurt my mom. I hit him with a bat so he wouldn't hurt her but she screamed at me to get out. I ran away and I found my friend and we talked for a while,"Y/n explained.
"Did he hurt you?"i asked
"No," she says. I looked down to Y/n's hand, she was shivering so I took off my jacket and put it on her. I grabbed her hands and held them as we walked.
"Who's your friend?"I asked.
"That's Lucas, Mrs. Bozzneys nephew, me and Two-bit met him at the library when I was helping Mrs. Bozzney," she says. Mrs. Bozzeny has a nephew? We walked holding hands. Once we were at the gate I stopped us both.
"What's wrong?"she asked
"Y/n there's something I want to tell you" I say.
"And what might that be?"she asked
"Y/n, I lik-"
"Oh dear GodY/n, where the hell have you been? I have been so worried. I thought those soc did something to ya"Two-bit interrupted rushing towards Y/n to give her a hug
"I'm fine,"Y/n said. She explained everything to Two-bit.
"Who is this man and what is he doing in our house?"Two-bit yelled
"I have no idea but he must've known mom"She replied
"I'm going to teach this witch a lesson"Two-bit got tense before he could walk off Y/n grabbed his wrist.
"Two-bit calm down, I know you are mad, I am too but it ain't going to change her mind" Y/n says. Two-bit calmed down then they turned to me.
"What was it that you wanted to tell me?"Y/n said
"Oh uh, nothing important, it wait for another time"I say
"Are you sure?"she says
"Yeah, we should get inside,"I suggested. We walk inside and I sit on the couch. Y/n sat beside me.
"Hey, Y/n"everyone greeted her
"Hey" she replied and she sat next me on the couch
"Hey, you heard about that school dance?" Dally says giving us the flier. Me and Y/n examined the fliers together.
"What about it?"Y/n asked. Y/n isn't much of a party person but she likes to dance and sing at the top of her lungs just to enjoy herself. The whole gang eventually joins her at the end. Y/n sings really well but she doesn't like us commenting. She becomes shy and doesn't know how to respond to a comment. For example if you say "Wow Y/n, you look great", she says "Uhh Merry Christmas" and walks off.
"Oh nothing just wondering if you were going with anyone" Dally winked at me as in giving me a clue to ask her.
"I don't think i'm going, no ones going to ask me anyway""she says. I would if knew how to say what mean.
"Time to go to school," Darry said pointing at me, Johnny, and Y/n. We get our stuff and start walking to school.
Your POV
"I don't think i'm going, no ones going to ask me anyways"i say. Though i still hope if someone were to ask me, i'd want it to be Ponyboy.
"Time to go to school," Darry said pointing at me, Ponyboy, and Johnny. I get my bag and we all start walking to school. As we arrive Cherry ran up to us. Pony and Cherry have been talking for a while. Cherry is soc but she is different from those other mean socs. We had no problem with her.
"Hey y'all" she said
"Hey" we all say
"So have y'all heard about the dance?" she asked
"Yeah, we aren't sure if we're going though"Pony says
"Come on, it'll be fun, y'all should come"she says
"We'll see,"Pony says. I walk to my locker and once I close the locker and I see Lucas.
"Ahh Lucas, you startled me"I say
"Sorry"he says
"It's okay, what's up"i say
"Oh I started talking to Alex and we became really great friends and I was thinking that you could help me ask him to the dance?" he said
"Sure why not?" i say
"Okay then where do you want to meet up?"he says
"I'll see you at the dingo after school"i say
"Alright see then" he walks off. I'm so happy for Lucas. I have the perfect idea. Is pony going to ask me? Does he even want to go with me? The bell rang and I ran to my class. Once I enter I see Cherry and Pony talking to each other. I always had a feeling Ponyboy liked Cherry. I cleared my mind and sat down at my seat. Once the lunch bell rang I decided to eat outside today. I took out my food and began to eat.
"This seat taken?"Lucas said sitting beside me
"Your sitting on a ghost so yes" i smile
"Oh my bad, hello ghost" he pretended to talk to the ghost. We both laughed and he sat down.
"It's cold out" i say
"Here take my jacket" Lucas offered
"No, I'm not cold, I was just describing the weather, besides you are going to get cold" I say. He put the jacket on my shoulder ignoring what I said.
"Fine but don't start complaining when you get cold,"I say. He rolled his eyes and started to eat his lunch.
"So have you talked to Alex yet?"I asked
"No, not yet, i was thinking of asking him friday, i don't know how" he said
"Just straight up ask him"i suggest
"But how?" he asks
"Practice on me"I say. He cleared his throat and began.
" Alex... Would you like to go to the dance with me?"
Ponyboy's POV
The bell rang and I packed my stuff for lunch. I didn't see Y/n in the halls. I thought she was at the lunch table already but I only saw Johnny.
"Have you seen Y/n?" I asked Johnny. He shook his head. We went out to look for her. Johnny looked on the left side and I looked on the right side. I looked over to the seats and I saw Y/n and this boy Lucas laughing. He put his jacket on her and I immediately started walking over there when i heard Lucas say "Would you like to go to the dance with me?"
Y/n smiled and said "I'd love to Lucas".
