"Y/N!" someone screamed. I turned around and Cherry was running towards me with worried eyes. She finally caught up to me. Both Ponyboy and Johnny look at me.
"What wrong Cherry?"i asked
"It's Lucas, He's.. he's crying, me and him were talking then someone handed him a note and he rushed out crying"Cherry said.
"Where is he?"i asked
"He locked himself in the janitor's closet"she pointed at the door.
"Do y'all mind?" I asked Ponyboy looked down at his feet and didn't answer. Johnny shook his head and told me to go.
"Thanks,"I said and I ran over to find Lucas. Cherry followed behind me. I could hear him crying. I lightly knocked on the door
"Hey Lucas, it's me Y/n, why don't you unlock the door so we can talk?"i said
"Go away"he shouted
"Not until you tell me what's going on,"I said. He didn't say anything afterward. Me and Cherry sat down on the wall and waited. I heard the door creak a little then me and Cherry got up.
"Just Y/n" he said
"I'll catch up with y'all later,"Cherry said, walking off to her class. I walked inside and he closed the door. He handed me the letter and I began to read. I was so shocked about what it said. Who could ever do this?
"Lies, lies, lies, lies, this all lies Lucas, these people just want to feed off your pain, don't let them get to you, Alex would never do that" Once I mentioned Alex he looked up with his eyes filled with anger. Someone had sent Lucas a letter saying that Alex only said that he would go on a date with Lucas only for pity and that he was going with someone else to the dance.
"Did he?"i asked
"It's true, he's going to the dance with someone else,"Lucas said. He started to cry. I hugged him tightly and I tried to calm him down. A few minutes passed and he was much more calmer. We got out of the closet and I walked him to the office for him to go home. I thought of something to get our minds out of the misery for a while.
"We should go out somewhere tonight"i said
"Where would we go?"Lucas asked. I thought about it. I couldn't think of any place.
"I don't know, maybe take a walk around town or somethin"i said
"I guess, I'd have to ask my aunt but I'm sure she'll let me" he smiled
"Okay then, I'll see you after six, I have to go help Cherry choose a dress for the dance after school"I said
"Talking about the dance, are you going with anyone?"Lucas asked
"No, i guess you aren't going with anyone either since what happened"i said
"Well do you wanna go as a group, we can ask Jessica and Justin to come along?"he asked
"Yeah, great idea, I'll be sure to ask them""I said. He nodded and went inside the office. I walked back to class. School was boring as usual. Nothing different. Cherry decided to sit with me at lunch. We talked about the colors she chose to wear and the kind of dresses she had. It kinda hurt to know he was going with Ponyboy but whatever. I had left school a little later than usual since I had to finish a test. But before I left I made sure to ask Jessica and Justin about going to the dance with me and Lucas as a group of friends. They agreed to come. I don't think we are planning on wearing particular colors. Once I was out I ran home to put my stuff down. I opened the door and I heard Two-bit and my mom speaking in the kitchen. I walked in and they both looked at me with smiles.
"What?"i asked
"I just got offered a job and they pay very well"Two-bit said
"Oh Two-bit, I'm so happy for you"i said running to give him a hug
"We can celebrate"My mom said
"I was actually going to drag race with Steve"Two-bit said
"And I was going over to Cherry's"I said
"Oh alright then, maybe another time, just be caref-"
BEEP! I looked out the window and it was Cherry waiting in the car.
"I got to go but I'll call you if anything happens"I smiled and I ran out to the car. Once I got in the car we drove to her house. It was a nice home. It wasn't a huge mansion like other Soc's had but it was a really pretty house.
"Nice place you have here"i said
"Thanks"she smiled. We walked inside where I was greeted by her parents. Her parents were really nice. They kept complimenting me and asking if I wanted something. They even offered me to stay for dinner but I had to decline because I remembered I still had to meet up with Lucas later. Cherry showed me to her room and we began the process. She took out all the dresses according to the colors they were going to wear, black and blue. Out of all them that we said were good, there were three left. The first one was a black dress with blue dots, then the second one was a blue dress with a black bow on the back, and the last one was a black and blue striped dress. We both said no to the first dress. It was hard to decide but said no to the second dress. It was a stressful process, It was worth it though. I looked up at the clock and I asked Cherry to use her phone. She said yes and I rushed to call Lucas.
"Hello?"Lucas said
"Hey, it's me Y/n, meet you at the lot in a few minutes okay?"i said
"Okay"he said. I called off and quickly said goodbye to everyone. I ran out when I made a small stop at the store. That's when I spotted something. Why not have some fun? I thought to myself.
