Chapter 13: A Quick Drive

THALIA'S POV

"NO! YOU CAN'T TAKE ME AWAY FROM HIM!! I NEED HIM!! HE NEEDS ME!! PLEASE?!" I screamed through tears which blurred my vision. After Nash started suffocating, the nurses pried me from his body and dragged me back into my room. It wasn't until the next day that the nurses told me the devastating news. I cried for hours non-stop.

Today is the day I get to go home. I can't wait to sleep in my own bed, play my own Xbox, spend time with my family. But there are some things I can wait for: school, homework, quizzes, bullies, and worst of all, having to go through school without my best friend...

"Alright Thalia," Dustin walks in all droopy since he heard the news as well. I sloppily gather my things together in a bag, stand up and walk to the door. Dustin swings his arm around my shoulder and escorts me out to his car.

The outside light and heat were crazy. "Why is it sooo hot..." I grumble, kicking a small rock with the tip of my red VANS. "Well...it's almost summer..." "Wait it is?" I am shocked. How long was I really asleep? "Yea...you've kinda missed a couple months of school... But you're fine tho," he replies with a slight smile.

We approach the jeep and I hop in. "Hey, what are you doing silly you're on the wrong side," he says standing at my door. "Uhm?" I'm sitting in the passenger's seat...so I don't know what the deal is... "Ahem. Don't you want to practice to drive before you have to take your test?" He says with a smirk. I gasp with an ear to ear smile and hop over to the other side.

"Alright!" He yells chuckling. He keeps giving me directions to help me, "alright 10 and 2! 10 and 2! No no! Look to your left, now to your right! That's it you got it!" I'm laughing so hard right now it's hard to breathe. He's hilarious! And I'm actually driving pretty well.

"Okay now second street to the right," he says directing me home, "hey idiot I think I know where I live!" I laugh. "Oh sorry Miss 'I've been asleep for 2 months'!" We both laugh as we finish the drive home. Pulling into the drive way, Dustin teaches me how to park and I turn off the engine. "Phew! I'm alive!!!" He yells; I laugh in return, "alright now don't tell dad!"

We enter into the warm house to experience the most shocking moment of my life...
