I pushed back the stray strands of my hair at the back of my ear. I heaved a deep sigh before I went out of the car.
My heart is racing for an unknown reason.
I am dying to know about everything that happened while I was away.
I searched for information all over the internet.
It just doesn't make sense. They have small issues with corruption.
Of course, as I scrolled through different articles, the blame was pinned on the opposition party and the rebels.
I sighed once more. I have to get in now.
"Good morning, Ma'am!" bati ng nasa front desk.
Ngumiti ako.
"Good morning. Nasa office na ba si Atty. Paredes? I have an appointment with him at 9 in the morning."
This law firm is huge.
I closed my eyes tight and knocked.
"Good morning po. Pasok lang po kayo. Naghihintay na si Attorney."
Bumati rin ako at tumuloy na. The cold welcomed me and seeped through the folds of my skin. It's a different kind of cold, though. It's the cold that will last no matter how much effort you put into warming yourself up.
"Yna! Long time no see!"
Tumayo siya para salubungin ako. He offered his hand before hugging me.
"Grabe!
"Ako pa rin po 'to," I said.
"Yes, yes, I know. Mabuti at naisipan mong umuwi?
I gave a small smile.
"Kailangan po," tipid kong tugon.
He smiled, too. His wrinkles are showing. He did age a lot. The last time I saw him, he still held that youthful physique. Now, he may have looked older, but his aura stayed the same.
He guided me to a chair close to his table.
"You mother had this processed a long time ago.
