Yuki's POV
As I began to wake up, I could feel the warm sun on my face, gently pulling me out of my sleep and back to reality. I laid there for a few minutes with my eyes closed, just listening to the sounds around me. I could immediately tell that I was no longer on the roof as the breeze was gone and I could no longer hear the birds chirping. I quickly determined that I was in the club room, since I could hear Tamaki shouting something about being king and I could hear the others laughing at him. It almost made me laugh along, until I heard Kyoya's cold voice speak.
"I don't care Tamaki, Mr. Kasuka should be roused." Oh man, Kyoya sounded pissed. "He has some explaining to do and I want answers." I could hear Kyoya's determined footsteps growing closer and closer until they seemed to stop right next to me. I quietly waited, careful not to give away that I was aware of his presence.
"Kyoya Sempai," Haruhi called suddenly, almost making me jump. "Can I talk to you privately for a second?" As she approached I could hear the two of them move to the other side of the couch and begin speaking in hushed tones. "I didn't tell you the whole story before." Haruhi admitted. I cracked one eye ever so slightly so I could see what was going on. "When Yuki ran away," She paused, looking at the floor nervously while Kyoya stared at her impatiently. She motioned for him to come closer and whispered something in his ear. When she leaned away I saw panic in Kyoya's eyes for just a fraction of a second before he regained his composure.
"Thank you Haruhi, that does change things." They began to return to the others and I quickly shut my eye so Kyoya wouldn't notice. "Listen up everyone," Kyoya called to the others as they walked back. "Please stay until Mr. Kasuka wakes up, there are a few things that need to be discussed."
"But all the ladies have left for the day," I heard the twins complain. "We're tired." Had I really slept through the entire afternoon? There was no way my record would remain in tact now, no matter who was on my side. Kyoya audibly sighed. There was a short pause where I didn't hear anything and considered 'waking up', but the silence soon ended.
"I suppose we can stay for a while, right Hikaru?" Kaoru conceded.
"I don't really have anything better to do." Hikaru admitted. I wondered what Kyoya could have done to change their minds so quickly. Everyone else agreed and I heard them all get comfortable, waiting for me to wake up. I waited for around five minutes, so I wouldn't give myself away, before I began to stir. Before I could even open my eyes, Kyoya was at my side whispering to me.
"Yuki, don't be alarmed." He whispered in my ear, sending chills through me. Why did he always have that effect on me? "I've taken you back to the club room. You're safe here." His voice was so soft and caring, it took me by surprise. I had never heard him sound so caring and it warmed my heart just a little. I opened my eyes to see the others coming closer. Before they reached us I leaned close to Kyoya and whispered cooly, staring him dead in the eye.
"Did you really, or did you send someone for me?" I turned away before he could answer. "I doubt you even considered coming yourself." I half spat in disappointment. There was no way he came himself. His time was too important, he was too busy to come after a silly girl like me. I felt ridiculous for even asking him to come, realizing I wasn't anything special to him. I went to stand, but before I could he grabbed my arm firmly and gently sat me back down.
"Yuki," He looked up at me and I saw something in his eyes. Was it hurt? Did I hurt his feelings? It had to be pity, Kyoya never let his feelings show. "I give you my word. I came to get you personally, just as you requested." I began to retort when Honey Sempai jumped on the couch next to me.
"It's true Yu-Chan," Honey Sempai interjected, looking up at me with those big eyes. "Kyo-Chan looked for you all afternoon. He even carried you all the way here from building A. He looked really worried." I looked to Kyoya for a denial but he simply pushed up his glasses and rose, turning to face everyone. Was he really worried about me? He was probably just worried that something would happen and I wouldn't be able to hold up my end of our deal. Why did that thought make my heart sink? I didn't have time to consider things before Kyoya spoke.
"Everyone, I have a confession." I began to feel the fear rising again and I quickly tried to grab Kyoya's arm to stop him, but he merely brushed my hand aside. I grabbed the hem of his coat and pulled, like a little girl begging for attention. He looked at me briefly and I begged him with my eyes not to say another word. Kyoya simply turned back to the others and blurted it out. "This is Ms. Yuki Ito." My heart sank into my stomach at his words and I watched the fear come across the faces of Tamaki, the twins, and Haruhi. Honey Senpai and Mori Senpai, on the other hand, readied themselves, as if I was going to pick a fight right then and there.
"Please Kyoya," I calmly said as I rose from the couch, slowly gathering my things. "You don't need to say another word. My name is enough." I slowly gathered my things and began to leave when Kyoya stopped me.
"She's not a danger to any of us." Kyoya insisted to the others. I saw Honey Senpai and Mori Senpai relax slightly, but they weren't convinced. The twins began to protest, but Kyoya cut them off. "She came to the Ootori group for help. She's going to testify against her father, bringing about his downfall. She's not interested in the Yakuza life and because of her decisions, she needs to be protected until after her father is gone." There was no pleading in his voice, just the calm cool voice that he always sported. "I am personally responsible for her safety and I can assure you that I am going to fulfil that responsibility no matter what." At that statement his friends seemed more than a little shocked. I couldn't stand being the cause of their disagreement any longer. I quickly turned on my heel, pausing for just a moment to whisper to Kyoya.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." Kyoya turned to me sharply, taken a bit by surprise. "True friends are rare Kyoya, don't throw them away. I'll be careful, I promise." With those final words and a tear falling down my cheek, I sprinted out the door, not bothering to look either back to the club or forward where I went. I didn't care where I went, just as long as I never hurt another soul again.
