Yuki's POV
Fuyumi and I were sitting on the bed, just chatting. We had systematically gone through every article of clothing from the box. Much to Fuyumi's dismay, most of the clothing came from the men's department. I laughed as she promised to get me more feminine clothes. I tried to assure her that I was more comfortable in men's clothes anyway, but she wouldn't hear any of it. "My idiot brother!" She fumed. "He doesn't understand that sometimes girls need to feel pretty." I blushed a little and looked down at my feet. I've never thought of myself as pretty.
"It doesn't really bother me, I've never even owned a dress anyway." I mumbled to myself. There was silence, and I looked up to see Fuyumi staring at me in shock.
"You what?!" Fuyumi half shouted. "That's going to change, today. Put something on so we can go out." I tried to protest but Fuyumi just threw some clothes at me and insisted that I change. I sighed as I realized there was no stopping her and went to the bathroom to change. As I began to undress I heard a knock at the bedroom door. I listened intently as a maid told Fuyumi that the Doctor had arrived to check on me. I quickly dressed and stepped out to see Fuyumi greeting an older man in a white coat. I kept my distance, but I stood tall and exuded confidence. In all honesty, I tried my best to look like Kyoya. The doctor didn't seem phased at all.
"How are you feeling today?" The man asked with a smile. "My name is Dr. Yamaku, Mr. Ootori asked me to stop by and check to see how you were recovering." I looked to Fuyumi and she gave a silent nod.
"I'm feeling better today." I offered cautiously. "I slept well last night and I have been taking care of myself throughout the day." The doctor gestured toward the bed and I took a seat. He was efficient and kind in his examination and in just a couple of minutes he began packing up his equipment.
"Well Ms. Kasuka," Kyoya must have given him my alias, but there's no way he could have hid my gender from a doctor. "Your fever is gone and you seem to be in better spirits, but make sure you're eating regularly and avoiding stressful situations."
"Yeah right," I laughed to myself. "My whole life is a stressful situation." Dr. Yamaku must have read my mind because his smile disappeared and a rather stern look replaced it.
"I'm serious." I nodded and made a mental note not to test the good doctor. "You need your rest, too much stress can cause relapses in your physical and mental health." He collected his bag and went to leave, but stopped and turned back to face me. "Speaking of your mental health, I hope you have been able to make some progress on that front?" I stared at him silently, not sure what he meant. Dr. Yamaku returned and placed his hand on my shoulder. "You need to let people in. Suppressing your fears and mental stress is only going to hurt you in the end." He spoke those last words in a hushed voice that only he and I could hear and I finally understood what he meant by progress. I gave him a slight smile.
"There has been progress, and hopefully there will be even more." I spoke a little awkwardly, as I wasn't used to people caring about me. The doctor nodded and turned to leave. Taking his phone out as he said goodbye. Fuyumi and I followed him out of my room and to the front door. With one final wave, he put his phone to his ear and walked out, leaving Fuyumi and I in the foyer when a butler approached us.
"Ms. Fuyumi, should I send for a car?" The man bowed as he spoke. I don't think I could ever get used to this.
"Yes please." Was all she said and the man disappeared once again. I knew Kyoya wouldn't want me to leave the house but I couldn't convince Fuyumi, no matter how hard I tried. "Just let me handle my little brother." Was all she would say, so I just gave up and went with her. We went all over town, to various shops and at each one I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. Each store was filled with gorgeous dresses, each more elaborate than the last. We had been gone for about an hour before Fuyumi's phone went off. As she looked at the screen a smile spread across her face.
