Kyoya and I rode in silence as my thoughts wandered through the events of the day. When I remembered what had happened in the club room, my cheeks grew hot. A noise pulled me from my thoughts and I looked up to see Kyoya watching me.
"You need to focus." He stated seriously. "Honey Senpai and Mori Senpai are masters, and they aren't going to go easy on you." He turned to look out the window and I nodded, but I couldn't erase the images from my mind. In what seemed like only a few minutes, we had arrived. Honey Senpai's house was massive and I couldn't help but be in awe as I stepped out onto the pavement.
"The dojo is this way." I heard Honey Senpai call, and I turned to follow him. We entered into a large, spacious room and Kyoya took a seat along the wall. Wood covered the room from top to bottom and every sound was echoed.
"Here." I heard Mori Senpai's deep voice and I looked to where the sound had come from. He had a mass of white fabric in his hand, which I quickly took.
"You can change in that room." Honey pointed to a door at the other side of the room and I nodded nervously.
"If you have any trouble, I can give you a hand." I heard Kyoya call mischeviously from his spot and I panicked.
"No thank you." I responded a little too quickly, making Kyoya chuckle. I made my way over to the door, letting myself inside. It only took me a few moments figure the clothes out. In just a few minutes, I stepped back out of the room, tightening the belt around my waist as I walked back to join the others. Mori Senpai and Honey Senpai had both already changed and were ready for me, turning to face me as I approached.
"Since you're just starting, you can spar with Takasi." Honey began. "We're gonna start with aikido." I gave Honey Senpai a curious look and he explained. "Aikido focuses on defence, so it'll add to your ability to fend off an attacker." I nodded and he continued. "Every day that you come to train, we'll start with a warm-up, then we'll do some drills to master techniques you've already learned. Next you'll learn some new techniques, and lastly you'll get to practice sparring with Takashi." Honey Senpai and Mori Senpai started moving toward the center of the room and I followed close behind. "Before we get started, why don't you show us what you know? Takashi will act as your attacker and you defend yourself as best you can." I nodded and readied myself. In a fraction of a second, Mori Senpai began his assault. At first it was easy to dodge his attacks, almost like he didn't want to go too hard on me right at the start, but his attacks soon became too difficult to dodge. Mori Senpai came at me head on and I quickly tried to land a hit to the nose, but he deftly doged my attempt and grabbed me from behind. The second I felt his big hand on my shoulder the memory of my escape came flooding back to me. I grabbed Mori Senpai's thumb, but he twisted free and wrapped his arm around my torso before I could do anything more. I struggled for a second before I slammed my elbow into Mori Senpai's ribs, causing him to gasp. Sensing I had surprised him, I stomped as hard as I could onto his instep and he quickly let go. I whipped around and prepared myself for another assault, but Mori Senpai held up a hand.
"Not bad." He said evenly, as if he hadn't exerted any effort at all. I, on the other hand, was panting as if I had just run two marathons in a row. I placed my hands on my knees, trying desperately to catch my breath.
"Remind me not to get on your bad side." I joked through gasping breaths.
"You did a lot of good things," I heard Honey Senpai comment from a short distance away. "I did see some things we can do better though." The small boy let out a sigh. "Well, I think that counts as a warm-up, so now we can start on the hard stuff." I looked at the small boy, my shock written plainly across my face.
"That was the easy stuff!?" I heard a Kyoya laugh and I turned to look at him.
"I'm surprised that Mori Senpai went so easy on you." I rolled my eyes and tried to focus on the rest of my lesson. I worked as hard as I could, internalizing every little critique and suggestion so I could improve. After a couple of hours, we decided to call it a night.
"When do you want to practice again?" Honey Senpai asked as I wiped the sweat from my forehead. I answered him immediately.
"As soon as possible. I'll practice on my own, but I'd like the extra help whenever I can get it." Honey Senpai and Mori Senpai looked at each other and nodded.
"We don't usually do anything after the club. We can do this every day if you want." Honey Senpai offered. I quickly agreed and gathered my things, turning to Kyoya.
"We should get back." I stated. "I still need to make dinner." We said our good-by's and returned to the car. We rode together in silence for a few minutes before Kyoya spoke.
"I have to admit, you did better than I expected." He admitted. "Even Mori Senpai was impressed."
"Lot's of people learn about self defence." I observed, not looking away from the window. "I've actually used it. I had to the night that I escaped." Kyoya was silent for a moment.
"Well, it's definitely paid off." After that we were quiet, and in a short while, we had reached the Ootori estate. I quickly made my way upstairs to my room, taking a quick shower and changing clothes. Afterward I ran down to the kitchen.
"Hello everyone." I greeted the staff and they stopped, gathering around me as I spoke. "Dinner today is lobster bisque, with a chefs salad and roasted vegetables. Dessert will be chocolate mousse. We'll be following the traditional recepies until otherwise decided. Let's get going." I kept my instructions brief, but I had written everything out on the with board at the far side of the kitchen. I had made these decisions while at school and had sent instructions to Fuyumi to give to the butler. As soon as I had finished, people began scurrying about. I made sure to try each dish as it was being prepared, and while some were perfection as they were written, others needed a little tweaking. I made sure to explain my decisions to the other staff and allowed them to taste the difference between their way and my way. Within the hour dinner was served. I decided to eat with the staff, since at the end of the week I would have to anyway. As soon as I finished, I dragged myself up to my room, utterly exhausted. I changed into pajamas and crawled into bed, falling asleep almost instantly.
