After the walk to my dorm I found a bottle of liquor in the cabinet above the stove that me and Alice hid for the weekly dorm inspection. I plop on the couch and begin drinking the bottle until, hopefully, I feel nothing.
After a couple hours the bottle is almost gone and I feel a bit sick. I lay there, numb. Just how I like it. I'm fucked up, I mean besides the alcohol. My phone has been buzzing non stop for the last two hours, until I finally decided to shut it off.
A knock on the door pulls me out of my head.
"Who is it!" I shout. The door opens slowly.
"Seriously go home Terre-"
"Oh but I just got here," Daniel's voice rings in my head. I snap my head to the door and Daniel stands leaning in the door frame. I grab my phone quickly off the table to dial the police but it's turned off. I quickly hold the power button but Daniel rushes over and snatches the phone from my hand and tosses it across the room.
"What the fuck do you want!" I shout as I stand up, chest to chest with him. Ballsy I know.
"Oh damn! Someone's gotta voice," he laughs.
"I just want to talk," he adds.
"Matthew, all of a sudden left town so he can't testify as my alibi. Know anything about that?" He questions. He left town? Terrell must have had something to do with that. He brings his hand up and twirls a piece of my hair that's by my face.
"Seems like a personal problem," I retort as I push his hand away from me.
"Damn. Terrell really can't get ahold of you if you're talkin' like that," he says.
"Get out," I say sternly.
"Okay. But just so you know, I know you've been staying with Terrell and I found him. He won't be a problem anymore after I paid him a little visit," he says as he turns to the door. My body stills. Paid him a visit? Daniel hurt him. Oh god.
"What do you mean? What did you do!" I shout as panic washes over me.
"If you're not gonna be with me, why would I let you be with anyone else," he smirks before he shuts the door. My heart drops. I run a grab my phone but it won't turn on. Daniel must have broken it. I stumble to the front door and ran outside. Daniel drives away just as I do. I run down the street and 4 blocks over. I stumble a few times with the amount of liquor in my body but thinking of Terrell being hurt sobered me up a bit. I continue to run even with my throat burning from my breathing and my chest aching. My legs throb as I stumble up his front porch. I quickly wrap my hand around the doorknob and push the door open. A lamp lays shattered on the floor.
"Terrell!" I shout. Tears fill my eyes. I walk slowly into the house and see more shattered glass but I can't tell from what. Terrell rushes out of the bedroom and he looks perfectly fine. I drop to my knees in tears. Tears of relief. His eyes widen and he rushes over to me and crouches down in front of me.
"Woah. Caroline? What's going on? Why haven't you answered your phone?" He questions. I leap up and wrap my arms tightly around his neck. He's taken back by my action.
"Caroline you smell like liquor. What's going on? What happened?" He questions me.
"Did he hurt you?" I ask quickly. I pull away from him to examine his figure. Not a scratch.
"Who?" He furrows his brows at me.
"Daniel," I mumble.
"No, why would he hurt me? Caroline what's going on?" He's confused.
"The glass," I look behind me to make sure the glass is still there and I didn't imagine it.
"I'm sorry. I got angry when you left," he says with embarrassment.
