I shower and get ready for the day. Today is my last day of school before summer. I go to class and when I get home I see a note that Terrell ran to the store but I'm not sure when he'll be back. I sit on the couch and begin channel surfing. Nothing seems good. Dr. Phil comes on and I leave it. I sit there for about 20 minutes when I hear something at the front door. I assume it's Terrell so I shut the tv off and go to open the door to help him with groceries.

As I walk to the door I catch a glimpse of the driveway through the window and his truck isn't in the driveway yet. He's still gone. Maybe it's Jaxin? I walk to the door and I hear small tapping. The door knob jiggles, making me jump. The door is locked, thank god. Jaxin has a key. My heart pounds as I realize it's not Jaxin. I wait and I listen. I run and grab my phone. I dial Terrell's number but it goes straight to voicemail. Shit.

I hear a car speed off away from the house. I walk slowly to the door and look out the window. I can't see the front of the door. I take a deep breath before deciding to open the door. I unlock the dead bolt and I wrap my hand around the cold door knob. I turn it slowly before ripping the door open. Confusion fills me as I don't see anyone. I step outside and there's no one here. I turn to go back inside when a white piece of paper taped to the door catches my eye. I peel the paper off the door and quickly go inside and lock the door again. I open the paper and my heart sinks.

I know what you did Caroline

It's a handwritten note. I don't recognize the handwriting. I run and grab my phone again and as I begin to dial Terrell's number, he opens the door. There's a small cut on his forehead just above his eyebrow.

"Oh my god, what happened?" I rush over.

"Some fucker just tried to run me off the road," he says. Oh god. This is related. It has to be. Someone tries to run him off the road and I get a note at the door. I turn and walk away. I sit on the couch and close my eyes. I hold my head in my hands.

"I'm okay, Caroline," he says.

"No that's not what's bothering me," I sigh as I pick up the note.

"Oh wow," he sounds slightly offended.

"No, look. I just found this taped to the door," I say. He walks over and takes the note from my hand.

"Did you see anyone? A car?" He asks. I shake my head.

"You think it's connected?" I ask.

"Well it'd be one hell of a coincidence," he sighs and sits at the kitchen table. I stand and walk into the bathroom. I pull out a wash cloth and some topical gel. I go to the kitchen and wet the rag before walking over to Terrell. He pulls me between his legs while he analyzes the note. I bring the rag up to his head and tap gently. He winces slightly but doesn't stop me. I continue to clean the cut.

"Are you okay?" I ask.

"Yeah," he mumbles. He sets the note on the table and closes his eyes as I clean his wound. His hands rest at my hips as I stand between his legs. I set the rag down and squeeze a pea size amount of topical on my finger before gently applying it to the cut. He doesn't flinch this time. I finish and I rest my hands on his shoulders.

"What do we do?" I ask.

"I don't know. I think I'm going to work on it from my end. We can't stay here for long. Not if someone is tormenting you," he says.

"What if I get arrested? I killed someone Terrell," I panic slightly.

"No, I can tell you right now this guy has other motives than the police," he says.

"If we can't stay here then where are we gonna go?" I ask.

"For now, let's go to your dorm, you can pack a bag. I'll make a phone call," he says. I nod my head. He grabs a bag and stuffs his necessities inside. We walk outside and his truck is damaged from the wreck. It's not totaled but definitely needs some work. We take his car to my dorm and when we get there he leaves the car running.

"Run inside and grab a bag. I'm going to make a phone call okay," he says. I nod and get out.

Once I get inside the dorm, I can instantly tell that my roommate hasn't been here. I walk to my room and grab a bag and start filling it. Something catches my eye. Another white note sits on my pillow. I pause before I pick it up.

You'll pay for what you did.

Whoever is leaving these, they've been inside my dorm. My heart pounds as I turn and begin running out the door. Terrell sees my panic and gets out of the car quickly. I crash right into his chest and he grabs my arms firmly.

"Woah, Caroline. What is it?" He questions quickly.

"He's been here. He got inside," I say out of breath. He looks at me confused. I lift the note.

"It was in my room," I say. He grabs the note and reads it. He looks back at my dorm.

"Do you think he's still in there?" He questions.

"No, no one is there," I shake my head. He considers for a moment.

"Okay, get in the car," he says and I don't hesitate to get in. He speeds off and I immediately can tell where we are going. He's driving towards the mafia.
