Alexis's POV

I just left from the locker room after I put away all of the things I didn't need. Adrien told me that he and everyone else are in the library, but I don't know what for.

After I opened the door to the library, I saw everyone standing in one spot and watching as Adrien and Max are competing against each other on a video game. I don't know what this was for.

I then see Nathaniel sitting on the floor, so I go over to him and sit down beside him.

"Hey, Nath. What's going on?" I asked him.

"It's the Try-outs for the Paris Ultimate Mecha Strike 3 Tournament. The school sends the two students with the highest score," Nathaniel explained.

I then nod, understanding what's going on.

I heard that Max is unbeatable. So I figured that he would be one of the two students who will be going to the tournament.

As we continued watching, Adrien defeated Max as his character leveled up and he had the highest score out of everybody. We all cheer for him as he was now in first place.

I look at Max and notice that he was looking a bit sad, but then he smiled and looked at Adrien.

"Awesome job, we're gonna make a killer combo," Max said as he and Adrien high five each other. We all then cheer as I feel Nathaniel hold my hand. I'm happy for Adrien and Max. I bet they'll do great.

Mr. Damocles then stands up in front of us with Miss Bustier.

"Well, I think we have our two champions lined up for the Paris tourna--"

"Wait!" I heard Marinette yell, which got all of our attention. "Is it too late to try out?" Everyone was a bit shocked after hearing her say that.

"Well, the library is closing up in 5 minutes, but..." Mr Damocles started saying. Marinette then goes over and sits on the chair in front of the TV with a confident look.

She then gestures for the control and Adrien gives it to her. She fan-girled a little, but I just ignored that. 

"The rules are elementary. You battle each other's robot with your own--" Max started explaining, but only to be cut off by Marinette.

"Please... Every time you win, you loot his items and gain XP, which upgrades you mech. I'm not a newb' thank you very much," She said.

"Sounds like you have a sufficient amount of knowledge. let's see if it's enough to beat me," Max said as he stuck his hand out to her. They then shook hands and started the game.

Just as the game started, Marinette was already beating Max with her ladybug mech. I was shocked, and so was everyone else. I could tell Max was trying, but I guess Marinette is better than him.

"And now, quarter circle plus kick and flying hyper-storm. Triple-hit combo, Marinette style, boo-ya!" Marinette yelled as she finally defeated him and leveled up her mech.

"What? I can't believe it. She... she beat him," Kim asked.

"Beat him. She pulverised him," Alya then said.

"The king's been knocked off his throne," I then heard Rose say as the score board was shown and Marinette was now in the lead.

I kind f felt bad for Max. I know he worked so hard to be one of the two to be in the tournament. But now I guess he's not.

"I accept this defeat. I relinquish this defeat in the tournament. Congratulations, Marinette, and Adrien," Max said as he made his way to the exit of the library.
