Naoko stared at the white ceiling of the infirmary, her eyes drifting from crease to crease in the paint as her mind wandered.

She wished he was here—he'd be able to warm her up faster than the blankets that were piled on top of her. She wanted him back and it broke her not knowing where he had gone. She wanted-

"Touya!"

Rei shouted in surprise as her eldest child practically tackled her to the ground.

"Mom! What the hell are you doing?" Touya shouted, quieting himself, scared of attracting unwanted attention from whoever might be home.

Rei stared into Touya's bright eyes in shock, mind muddled before crying entered her ears. Crying... her daughter was crying, why was her little girl crying?

Naoko sputtered, curled up into a ball on the ground. Broken sobs escaped the little girl and Touya and Rei could hear her gasping for air. Mother and son stared in horror as Naoko barely lifted her head, showcasing her teal eyes that were red around the edges and overflowing with tears.

"It hurts... Ao... it hurts!" Her words came out raspy, but her crying increased—making Touya feel sick from the gut wrenching sound.

The boy jolted forward, grabbing his little sister and pulling her into his lap. He let his body grow warm with his quirk to comfort her as he tried to calm her down.

"Aka..." he shushed her, lifting her chin softly so he could look at her neck.

Rei, who was sat behind Touya stared at her frosted hands in horror. They shook uncontrollably despite having been so strong just seconds ago...

Touya gasped, prompting Rei to look up, scared of what she had done. Naoko's neck, small and fragile as it was, was covered in rough looking blisters that seemed to drain the color from her skin into grey. Patches of ice were stuck to her skin, and Touya lifted a heated hand to help melt them, trying to ease any pain with gentle massaging.

Naoko's cries wouldn't stop, and Rei started crying herself, whispering over and over, "What did I do? What did I do?"

The last few minutes rushed back to the white haired woman. Her and Naoko had been in one of the old training rooms, the young girl wanting to show her mother something she learned to do with her quirk.

The little girl had sat on the ground, her right leg folded underneath her while the left was stretched forward. Rei squatted beside her, a soft smile on her face, happy that her daughter was getting better with her quirk.

Naoko lifted her small hands to hover over her left thigh, her lips set in a cute pout as she focused. A slow, steady stream of her blue fire emerged from the skin on her leg, in a nearly perfect line. The top of it formed into a ball, and it began to sprout what looked like petals.
