Shay Method:

Start by meditating (Shimmey Shay recommends this) beforehand. She also recommends drinking lots and lots of water during the day before shifting. Then you can listen to subs or not, doesn't really matter. Then, lay in any position that is comfortable for you. Imagine yourself swinging in a hammock, the point of this is to calm your mind and let your body go to sleep. Imagine the hammock swinging back and forth. With each swing of the hammock say an affirmation in your head. When you start to feel the symptoms of shifting (numbers, headache, etc) visualize your dr world around you. Continue to say affirmations in your head while you do this. Then, continue to visualize your dr as you fall asleep. 

Shimmey Shay says her method works very well and she actually shifted several times using this method.
