Epilogue (Part 1)
Amaro was parked in a parking lot when he heard the call coming over the radio. He sat forward as he listens to the words that were coming the speaker. He immediately threw the squad car into drive and listened to the address that was being spewed by the dispatcher. His clicked the lights on and sped off.
As he approached the building he had never seen before, he already knew that this had to be Olivia Benson's residence. There was cops already surrounding the apartment. Nick flew up and was out of the car in seconds. He jogged towards the door, nervous about what he was going to find when he got inside.
"Detective with SVU called in reporting a self-inflicted gun shot wound", the words from the dispatcher were floating through his mind. It felt like his feet were heavy as he made his way into the Stabler apartment. The only thing he could think he was about to find was Olivia's dead body. He knew she was going through something horrific and was scared that she didn't think she could take it anymore.
When he entered the apartment, he was not prepared to see. Olivia Benson was standing in the living room with her arms wrapped around herself with tears streaming down her face. There was no emotion on her face or within her eyes. She looked like stone as she stared at the ground. There were cops everywhere in the apartment as Elliot's body was being taken out of the room.
"Olivia," He called out moving towards her. Her head popped up seemingly snapping her out of the trance she was previously in.
"Are you okay?" He asked looking her up and down making sure that she wasn't physically injured.
Olivia didn't say anything as she stared at Nick. She couldn't believe anything that was going on and how fast the night progressed. She killed her husband and now there were cops all around her apartment. But she had no idea of how this was going to progress and had no idea if she was going to be able to get in with her lie.
Tears began to fall harder and she started to feel like her chest was beginning to constrict and her breath was coming out in pants. Nick pulled her forward and held her as she began to have an panic attack. He ran his hand through her hair as she was breaking down in his arms.
Cragen woke up startled to his phone ringing. He blindly reached for his phone to answer the offending call. He shot up straight in his bed when he received the news that Elliot Stabler had allegedly committed suicide.
He didn't wait another second before he jumped out of bed and scrambled to get dressed. As he was yanking his clothes on he yelled into the phone, "Make sure Olivia Benson stays put. I am on my way to get her.". Grabbing his keys, he ran to his car. He needed to get to her and find out what the hell went down in the apartment after he had just found out the abuse she had been enduring.
Fin was sitting on his couch watching old TV when his phone started buzzing on his coffee table. He leaned forward to see that Cragen was calling him. With a groan, he grabbed the phone and answered it. "What's up, Cap?" He asks, starting to get up because he figured he was being called into work.
"Fin, I need you to get to Olivia's now." He hears the Captain frantically tell him. It sounded like he was already in the car and from the tone of voice he knew this was bad.
"Is she okay?" He asked taking his stairs to his bedroom two at a time.
The Captain sighed before speaking, "Elliot is dead."
Cragen and Fin pulled up about the same time. The men met on the sidewalk to get up the stairs together. "What the fuck happened, Cap?" Fin asked worriedly as they hurried their way up there.
"Olivia called it in. Elliot shot himself." He said last second as they entered the apartment where they were met with a lot of NYPD officers. Nick was holding a sobbing Olivia and the two men walked towards him.
Cragen put his arm around Olivia, taking her from Nick and led her slowly out of the apartment. He whispered to her that he was taking her home and she was going to sleep at his house. After getting her into the car and making sure she was okay, he turned to talk to the other men.
"What is going on?" Fin asked looking between Nick and Fin. "What am I missing?" Fin demanded. He could tell both of them knew something he didn't. It doesn't make any sense that this happened. There was no indication that Elliot was this close to breaking. He knew he was having a hard time after the Jenna shooting but never would this have crossed his mind.
"Honestly Fin, I don't know what happened. The only person that does know is sitting silently in the car. I need you guys to find out everything you can about what happened in this apartment tonight and let me know immediately." Cragen pointedly told his two detectives. The men nodded silently and looked between each other.
The Captain bid his goodbyes to everyone before getting back into the car with Olivia. He glanced at the woman in the passenger seat who was blankly staring out the window. He reached over and squeezed her hand before taking them both back to his house.
Fin and Nick re-entered the apartment and began talking to the other officers that were canvasing the scene in the Stabler bedroom. Fin winced at the amount of blood that was all over the bed and the gun that was being tagged and put into an evidence bag.
Fin could feel the emotion swelling in the pit of the stomach. He loved Olivia dearly and was worried about her. However, Elliot had became like a brother to him over the years and he now was dead. He shook his head as he listened to the other officers speak. He needed to know what led this night to happen.
