Chapter 11

Jennie's POV

I don't know what has gotten into Lisa but this is absurd. She's gonna hear from my parents.

NO ONE, literally no one, has ever dared to place THE JENNIE KIM in this situation. It's so muddy and dirty and yucky, and now she wants me to place my hands on those filthy plants?

I grabbed her wrist and dragged her far from the hut where no one can hear us.

"Lisa! are you insane? do you think I'll participate? are you freaking nuts?" I said in a lower register but firm.

"I know you're mad, but please, trust me" she said looking straight into my eyes.

just those words - trust me - calmed my heart.

I froze.

why does she affect me?

Rosé and Jisoo were wearing boots to avoid slipping into the mud, Lisa was done with hers and were just waiting for us to finish.

"Stupid shoes" I mumbled but I guess it was loud enough for her to hear because she went to my direction and knelt in front of me.

she took the shoes off my hand and carefully slip it into my feet.

"Wearing boots is not that hard you know" She whispered before she went to Rosé's direction.

my cheeks are turning red.

"you put too much blush on Jen" Jisoo teased me. I rolled my eyes on her.

I wish for this day to end!

I am so frustrated with the situation, plus the scorching heat of the sun, the smell from the carabao poop and the never ending appearance of frogs hopping here and there. Lisa started walking towards a much empty field filled with water. I tried to enter the field but once I dipped my foot, it sunk a little deeper than I though that I almost fell. Good thing Lisa was guiding me. Mr. Charles was showing us how to properly plant and I just realise that these are rice plants.
I saw what he did. He took a stalk of plant and tucked it into the ground but he's doing it really fast.

"Grandpa Charles, why don't you take a rest and allow us to do the work" Lisa uttered.

Does my suffering satisfied her?

Mr. Charles happily oblige. Lisa then handed me a bundle of plant and pointed out to the center field, telling me to plant these. I was hesitant at first but her authoritative glare was scary. I didn't want to die yet.

I carefully placed a stalk on the muddy ground. I took a quick glance at Jisoo and Rosé who were doing fine with the task. I successfully planted 3 stalks but the 4th one just kept falling.

"Oh god please cooperate, this is so hard" i said groaning. Lisa must have heard me when she came and helped me with the plants. She took my hand carefully guided it to where the stalk should be placed. I flinched.

I've been bending for 5 minutes and seriously my body starts to ache already.

"Lisa I'm tired, please can we stop?" Tears were forming on the side of my eyes. She carefully placed the bundle of plant she was holding and approached me.

"Yeah, sure" she said. She stepped out of the field and offered her hand to guide me so that I won't fell.

The day went fast, Rosé and Jisoo enjoyed the planting session they had, while I am struggling to keep my nails tidy like they were yesterday. We said our goodbyes to Mr and Mrs. Charles. Lisa drove us back to the house.
