Enid sat in front of the pond with her eyes closed.
Gramps had agreed to teach her but all he had done was order her to focus on all the essences around her, which was harder than she had initially perceived.
It was almost impossible to distinguish between different plants or different birds. In the end, she could only tell apart grossly distinct essences like birds and grass.
She was just about to give up when she heard her name.
"Enid!"
She turned in shock.
Racheal stood with her hands on her waist, breathing heavily.
"Racheal?!"
Before Racheal could catch her breath, Enid tackled her in a spine crushing hug.
"What are you doing here, you're supposed to be up north."
"We got Averys message; Micah and I. Micah's gone to save Avery but I just couldn't sit and do nothing so I decided to search."
"How did you know bid be here?" she asked, hugging her again.
"Are you serious? Where else would you go?"
" I guiess my options are limited," she answered with a small smile as she touched her neck. That was when Racheal noticed the scar. It looked like Alice's scar.
"D..did the prince do that to you?"
"Yeah." Enid looked away Racheal knew she didn't want to talk about it, and that the attack must have hurt her pride.
"Oh well it'll heal. Lets leave for now."
At that moment, Gramps walked out towards them with a sun hat and some garden tools. He stopped in his tracks when he saw Racheal.
"Oh...Gramps this is Racheal, my guardian. Racheal, Gramps has been taking care of me," Enid said as she turned to Racheal who looked stunned with confusion.
"Gramps?" she asked like she recognized the name.
Gramps gave a small smile.
"Lass, you've grown."
"Do you know me, you look familiar."
He chuckled and turned back to Enid.
"Are you leaving your training?"
"Did we meet when I was young? I don't remember much from my childhood," Racheal asked walking towards him.
Gramps held onto her shoulders and pat her head.
"That's not important."
Enid stared at both of them confused.
"Do you know her Gramps?"
"Yes, from a long time ago."
"Are you a relative of mine?" Racheal blurted out before Enid could respond.
He let out a loud chortle.
"Fortunately, no. Enough about that, are you with this kid?"
"Yes... I am,' she replied still unwilling to let the previous conversation fall.
"Well, you did a pretty good job, helping her with her magic but because it's unknown, she isn't improving as exponentially as she should be."
Racheal took a deep breath trying to clear her thoughts. It as true, She and Avery had just been waddling in the dark, trying to teach her.
