People who wield Hypnosis magic are usually feared because of their ability to control people.

Enid adapted faster than Racheal had expected; she was immediately entranced by the use of magic for everyday tasks.

It was all strange to her, using fire magic to burn wood or heat up food, using air magic to dry up clothes.

She always ran up to Micah's room whenever there was something she didn't understand.

"Why does everyone in the palace use fire, water or air? I thought that there were more kinds of magic."

"People who have basic elemental magic are sought after as helpers, especially if their magic capacity is not too high."

"Do you also have elemental magic?"

"No,no, my affinity is enhancement."

"Eeeeeeh, but you're really weak."

"Enid stop bothering the prince!" Racheal yelled who on the other hand, was not adjusting as easily.

Everything was too fast; the people, how they talked, the tasks, she could barely keep up.

She missed the patient calmness of the abandoned temple up the hill.

On a particularly average day, as Racheal brought Micah's meal up, Micah sat on his reading desk at the far end of the room.

"You've been pretty down lately." He said not looking up from his work.

Racheal looked up, not knowing what he was speaking of.

"Are you finding adapting difficult?" He asked closing the book.

Racheal gave a big sigh as she set his meal.

"Everything's too fast and I'm struggling to keep up."

The room was silent apart from the clinking of the dishes.

Micah had turned back to his book, although he really wasn't reading anymore.

He could not pretend to understand what she was going through.

Everything was done by magic and she had to keep up without it.

"Would you like to go on a break?" He asked after she had finished setting the table.

"I'm not completely familiar with how things are done around here but I'm not sure breaks are given whenever the maid whines." She said preparing to leave.

"No, the maid takes a break whenever the person she's working for wills it."

Racheal felt tension at the nape of her neck.

It happened when Micah spoke seriously.
It was one of the few moments he actually looked like royalty.

...

Enid spent most of her time staring at the maids doing their chores for hours.

Water splashing out of one maids hands as she washed the dishes, strong wind shooting from another's as she dried the sheets.
They went through their tasks with fantastical powers with such mediocrity that it amazed Enid.

The maids however did not like Enid very much.

They thought that like her guardian, she had no magic.

Enid never bothered to correct them.

She never forgot the promise she made to Racheal.

When Enid was not staring at the maids, she was in the garden as big as the entire abandoned temple.

There were springs, trees, flowers, plants, animals of all kinds, but for some reason, it never felt as tranquil as the temple.

Enid tried to replicate what she had seen other magic users do there when no one was around.

Although Racheal knew that Enid had magic, she could never tell what it was exactly.

Sometimes she would find that grass had died all around Enid.

Sometimes, weeds and shrubs grew around were she slept.

But it wasn't all about plants. When Enid was 4 she always brought Racheal dead birds.

When Rachael asked her how they died, she told her that they just fell and died around her.

Enid often stayed in the garden for hours, trying to shoot water or fire or wind from her hands to no avail.

"Hopeless!" She yelled as she fell on the grass one evening.

The sun was just about ready to fall and the sky was a mixture of blue and pink swirls.

Enid heard a rustle at a distance and immediately got up.

Racheal told her not to bother anyone especially if they weren't a maid.
She ran and hid behind a tree just as a young woman carrying a toddler came into sight.

It seemed to Enid like the young woman was a maid but she did not wear the usual pale blue frock that all the other maids wore.

Instead she wore a mint green one, however the one who caught Enid's attention was the child.

The maid put her down and let her walk which made the child ecstatic.

Turfs of wild black hair covered her head and her green eyes almost mirrored Enid's except they were smaller and darker.

Like when she met Micah,Enid felt like she knew the child.

She watched as the maid played with the child who seemed to be giggles.

"Aria, don't run too far." The maid ran after the little girl who seemed attracted to the tree that Enid hid behind.

Aria stopped abruptly and stared at the tree.

"What's wrong Aria, are you alright?"

Enid held her breath and pressed herself into the tree.

She felt like she absolutely should not be seen by the girl or the maid.

After a while, Aria giggled and ran away from the tree, the maid closely following her.
