I Need You

32. We are together

"Happy birthday Aaron" we all shout in unison. He is in deep sleep. I asked everyone to come here. I wasn't expecting Cara but Damon insisted on getting her. He called me 100 times and I had to say yes. He wakes up rubbing his eyes. 

And he looks at me happy, shocked and angry. I usher them out and hand him another dress to wear for the night. He looks at me confused. "I bought this one for you" I say understanding his expression. His closet is full of black. So I bought a dark blue shirt which almost looks like black. He gives me a naughty smile and even before I can understand what he is trying to do, he pushes me on to the bed and towers on me. 

"This isn't what I am expecting tonight" he says rubbing his jaw. I look at him confused and then he winks at me. I can sense my cheeks turning bright red. I just help myself to get away from him and close the door behind me. I stand there smiling like an idiot till Suzy pulls me back to reality. "What's happening baby doll?" she asks smirking. "I'll tell you later. Where's my dress?" she hands me a bag when I asked for that. I look into it and I sigh. She didn't bring the one I asked for. Will she ever?

I changed into the dress Suzy bought for me and went downstairs. We all decorated the living room while Aaron was asleep. And I planned to tell them about me and Aaron. When I turn to look back, he is on the stairs and he is looking deadly. And when his eyes land on mine we just stare at each other, forgetting everything around us. He smiles when he looks at my outfit and I have to blame Suzy for it. She bought a dress which is of the similar color as Aaron's shirt.

He was about to come to me when his mom and Em stop him in his place to wish him. And everyone in the room does the same. I can sense his anxiety. He is shifting from one foot to the other trying to lose it. And I just find it cute. When he finally reaches me "Happy birthday D" I say hugging him. He hugs me back like his life depends on it. 

We break apart when we hear soft chuckles from behind us. I adjust my dress and he goes and sits with the boys. Meanwhile I and Evelyn go into the kitchen to bring the cake. 

"Any updates" she asks nudging my elbow. I just nod to that. Yes we have. She chuckles and makes some weird sounds. After he cuts the cake, the boys wanted a champagne toast. We both stand beside each other and he clears his throat to gather everyone's attention. They all turn to us. He grabs my waist and pulls me towards him. 

"We are together" he says. And these simple words are enough for the room to be in celebration mode. They all cheer for us. I rest my head on him while some are busy in cheering, some still in amusement and some clicking pictures of us. I feel something cool on my neck.

I turn to look back and he smiles over my shoulder. The necklace is cute. It has a moon pendant. I turn around to kiss him. For a second we forget about everything. And when we break apart, I turn to front to meet the smiling faces of everyone in the room. I look around the room and Cara is nowhere to be found. They throw gold confetti on us and they enjoy.

Later Aaron made a toast to everyone and they started drinking. Everyone are busy in chatting with each other. Noah and Suzy are getting along well. I hope they will end up together soon. Aaron comes and sits beside me. I rest my head on his shoulder. I keep touching the pendant. I feel something on the backside. 

"Help me take this once" I ask him sitting straight. "Why, you didn't like it?" he asks with a worried expression. "No, I like it soo much. Just take it out once" I say and he helps me take it out and keeps in my hand. There are stars engraved on the front and on the back, our names are engraved. I smile when I see his name. The pendant is beautiful. He looks at what I am looking and then he smiles. "I am trying claim that you are mine" he says pressing our foreheads.

Someone clears their throat and we pull apart from each other. Cara is standing infront of us. I just give her a smile and I get up from the couch to go to my mom. As soon as I get up, Cara takes my place and she holds his hand. I can't handle her here anymore. But I do care about Damon. I look around the room to find him. He is busy with Em and the baby. She is happy around him. He makes the things easy for her. If he wasn't in a relation with Cara, I would ship them.

I go to my mom and rest my head on her shoulder and look at the couch. Cara is putting herself on him. When my mom realizes that I am not paying attention to her or Aunt Lisa, she holds my hand and caresses my palm. "Don't worry sweetie. He will not fall for her" she says soothingly. The thing I am worrying about is not Aaron. But Damon. How would he feel when he sees her like this.

"I know mom. It's not about him, it's about Damon. Damon loves Cara." I say still looking at them. She sighs and cups my face to make me look at her "Don't worry to much about them" she says wiping the fresh tears from the corner of my eyes. "I am so disappointed with you Mia" aunt Lisa says making me worried. She shakes her head sideways showing her dis-interest in whatever she is speaking about. "You are not thinking about my son the way you think about others" she says shaking her head. Both mom and aunt burst into laughter. When I get what she is trying to say, I smile hard. 

I get from the chair and they both give me assuring smiles and they push me towards him. 

"Let's go home. I am sleepy" I say pulling him from the couch. But Cara pulls him back. I stand in between Damon and Cara to make sure that he doesn't see what's happening. Aaron pulls me to him when he sees what I am trying to do and makes me sit on his lap. "You are home now" he says kissing my neck. "I think this isn't how you wanted your birthday to be" I say with a raised eyebrow , "and we have got plans for Em's next birthday" I say winking at him. He smiles and gets up from the couch holding me in his arms. He smiles and waves bye to Cara, but she is busy giving me fiery looks. I take this as a chance to make her mad. I raise and kiss him on the cheek.

"We're leaving" he shouts making sure everyone hears. I look aver his shoulder to meet the curious eyes of my mom and aunt Lisa and wink at them. They give their brightest smiles to me and wave their hands. I look around the room to say my byes to everyone. 

He puts me in the passenger seat and buckles me up. He settles in the driver seat and pulls away from the driveway. I keep looking outside, trying to fake my anger. When he senses it, he pulls the car to the side and looks at me. I look at him in the mirror. "What?" I ask him with a fake seriousness. He isn't Em to find my mood. So for now I am safe. He pulls my face  close to his "Can I know what's wrong" he says caressing my cheek. "You didn't tell me about Em" I say looking away from him. He doesn't speak anything. He is so silent. I turn to look at him. He is just staring at me. Thanks to the darkness, or-else I will fall for his eyes again.

"How long will you stay like this" he asks looking at me. "I- I- For a long time" I say stumbling on my words.

"Ok" he says and starts the car. He stays silent for the rest of the drive.
