Yamaguchi opened his eyes slowly. He rubbed his eyes and tried to remember what had happened.

Oh right. The police station...Hinata.

Hinata. Yamaguchi frantically looked around for the orange-haired boy lifting his head off what he thought was the window. But when he turned around to look for his friend he was met with the sight of the bus window. Yamaguchi raised an eyebrow and looked at his other side. Hinata was sunk into his arm. Yamaguchi went red as he realized that he would have been sleeping with his head on top of Hinata's. Yamaguchi tried to look away but his eyes refused to oblige. Hinata looked perfect in the light of the full moon. His orange hair fell over his eyes and his lips were pink and looked incredibly soft. Yamaguchi found himself leaning forward and forced himself to look away.

His heart beating extremely fast he covered his mouth and breathed in and out. He closed his eyes before looking back over at Hinata. Yamaguchi was unable to keep his smile at bay. But the smile slipped away when he looked up at the board that displayed what stop they were at now. His jaw dropped when he realized they had slept through their stop. Yamaguchi pulled his bag on and went to shake Hinata up. He hesitated when seeing Hinata's face. He looked tired. He had a long day. Yamaguchi instead pulled Hinata onto his back and rung the bell that signaled someone needed to get off. The bus screeched to a halt and Yamaguchi hurried to the door apologizing profusely to the bus driver. Hinata groaned and shifted on Yamaguchi's back. Yamaguchi's skin tingled underneath his shirt. He slowly walked back toward where he thought their stop might be.

He had been to Hinata's house once, for a school project. His uncle had been furious when he came back the next day. That was one of the worst days. Yamaguchi sighed and adjusted his grip on Hinata.

"Yama...?" Came the sleepy voice of Hinata. Yamaguchi immediately flushed at the sound of his voice struggling to answer.

"H-hey, we're almost home...I-I think," Yamaguchi said looking around for a bus stop. He felt Hinata's head rise from his back and look around.

"Yama! Let me down! I can walk, you must be exhausted," Hinata's voice was filled with alarm and worry. Worrying...someone was worrying about him. He didn't know why it felt so good to know that someone cared about him. Or maybe it was the fact that Hinata cared about him.

"It's ok, I know you're tired..." Yamaguchi said stifling a yawn of his own. Hinata sighed and then struggled in Yamaguchi's grip. Yamaguchi stopped walking and bent down so Hinata could jump off. Hinata did exactly that and then appeared next to him looking slightly mad.

"I'm tired? Then you're probably off the edge of the world exhausted," Hinata muttered slinging a hand through Yamaguchi's and pulling him along. Yamaguchi giggled and followed him. Hinata had a soft red blush on his cheeks, probably from the very little space between him and Yamaguchi, but the green-haired boy mistook it for fever.

"Hinata? Are you ok? You look really red...are you sure you can walk? I can carry you! I don't mind!" Hinata turned redder when Yamaguchi placed his hand on the tangerine's forehead.

"You're kind of warm..." Yamaguchi said, worry glinting in his eyes.

"Yama, I'm fine I swear! I just wanna get home. It's kind of cold out here," Hinata said, trying to cover up how flustered he had become. Yamaguchi reluctantly let it go and the pair started walking again. They were almost there when Yamaguchi carefully threaded his fingers through Hinata's. Yamaguchi was about to pull away sadly when Hinata held his hand and they kept walking. Overall? Yamaguchi was feeling like shit, but he had hope for better days.

He was scared out of his mind about his uncle finding him again, he was worried about messing up his future, he was scared he would turn out just like his uncle and aunt but knowing that Hinata was there...somehow made it a little better

~!~!~

I'm sorry all the chapters have been so short I've been struggling with writer's block...so I'm probably going to take a little break to just get myself in the writing mindset again! I hope you don't mind...💜
