(TW! Mention of panic attacks and implied abuse)
The sun had begun to dip beneath the horizon when they reached home. Hinata was still asleep on Yamaguchi's shoulder, and because of this, the green-haired boy had walked slower than usual. Hinata had looked so petrified leaning against the wall outside their school, then after his panic had passed he looked so tired. Yamaguchi hadn't realized that Hinata was prone to panic attacks. His mind drifted back to a memory that had seemed so insignificant.
He had been looking for a website on how to treat his wounds when he had accidentally clicked on a link. The link had led him to a site with information about panic attacks, their symptoms, and causes. It had piqued Yamaguchi's interest for some reason and he dug up some more research. Like how to help someone having a panic attack.
Yamaguchi smiled softly, happy that he'd found that website. He carefully nudged the door open and stepped into Hinata's house. He tugged Hinata's bag off, trying not to wake up Hinata. However, he failed and Hinata's eyes fluttered open. The shorter yawned and lifted his head from Yamaguchi's shoulder.
"Ah, I'm sorry did I wake you?" Yamaguchi asked looking up at Hinata. Hinata had his hands on Yamaguchi's shoulders looking down at him confusedly.
"Since when was I taller?" He asked tilting his head. Yamaguchi laughed and slowly let Hinata down. The shorter immediately turned red. Yamaguchi rubbed the nape of his neck sheepishly but instantly they were clutching onto Hinata again. The tangerine had tried to step away and stumbled.
"I don't think you're fully awake yet Sho," Yamaguchi said worriedly. Hinata groaned and looked back at Yamaguchi with mock offense.
"You're too warm. Now I'm not used to my legs because you're so comfortable," Yamaguchi laughed and helped Hinata stand up again. Hinata rubbed his eyes and sighed.
"I have to go tell my mom about my attack. For my next therapy session," Hinata muttered before looking to the kitchen and beckoning Yamaguchi to follow him. Yamaguchi followed quietly, a little surprised at how easily Hinata had said he went to therapy. His uncle had always made it seem like a horrible thing. Something for the weak and stupid. Neither of those applied to Hinata. Hinata was so determined, so strong. Even with his panic attacks, it didn't seem to stop him from doing what he wanted.
Yamaguchi felt his heart speed up at the thought of Hinata with his bright smile and lovely eyes.
"Mama, I had a panic attack today," Hinata said, pulling Yamaguchi out of his thoughts. The orange-haired boy had pulled a journal out from somewhere and was busily scribbling in it. Yume turned away from the pan that was on the stove.
"Are you ok? You must be tired," Yume said cupping Hinata's face. Hinata shook his head and Yamaguchi watched the tips of his ears turn red.
"Yama carried me," Hinata informed. Yume turned to Yamaguchi and smiled warmly at him.
"Thank you so much Yamaguchi dear. You must be tired then, have dinner and head to bed" Yume said turning back to the stove and serving the food onto plates before handing them to the two.
"Mama! Look look what I drew!" A small girl ran into the kitchen clutching a piece of paper. Yume looked down and laughed before nodding.
"Oh wow Natsu! So pretty," The girl-Natsu-beamed and then turned around, noticing Hinata and Yamaguchi. Hinata was just pushing the notebook back into a drawer when Natsu ran over.
"Nii-Chan!" She exclaimed. Hinata giggled and knelt down to her height allowing her to run into his arms. Yamaguchi watched with a small smile on his face. They were all so comfortable around each other, so warm and loving. He couldn't help but feel a little jealous. He couldn't help but wonder what his life would have been like if his parents had lived.
"Yama! Meet Natsu, she's my little sister," Yamaguchi once again refocused on the present and found Hinata standing in front of him with Natsu in his arms. She stared at him curiously.
"Yama? OH! Is he the bo-" Hinata went from tangerine to tomato in a matter of seconds. Yamaguchi, slightly alarmed, reached out to Hinata.
"Hinata! You're red! Are you ok?" Yama asked while Natsu giggled at his flustered state. Yamaguchi couldn't help the giggles that escaped him. Hinata shook his head.
"Let's just eat," Hinata said placing Natsu down. Yamaguchi covered his mouth and tried to calm his racing heart and his scrambled mind. Hinata had looked cute even when he was flustered.
The 4 of them sat down at the table and started eating. For a few minutes, there was just Hinata and Natsu bickering over the table and Yume trying to calm them down until Hinata suddenly stopped and sat up in his seat. Yamaguchi glanced at him wonderingly.
"I had an idea! Yama should come to therapy with me!" Hinata exclaimed looking at Yamaguchi. Natsu shrugged and went back to her food. Yamaguchi knew he should say yes but that gnawing feeling, his uncle's words, and the beliefs that had been beaten into him all came back and he hesitated.
It was as if Yume sensed this because she spoke up softly.
"Dear, therapy helps a lot. Really, there is a lot of bad stigma surrounding it, I'm aware but we found a wonderful therapist. He's helped Hinata a lot," Yamaguchi still hesitated, biting his lips and picking at his food. Hinata pouted slightly before snapping his finger.
"You could try it out for a week! Then if you still don't feel better then we'll stop!" Hinata proposed. Yamaguchi mulled over this thought and then nodded. It wouldn't hurt to try, plus he didn't want to think like his uncle. Ever.
"Ok...I'll do it," He said. Hinata jumped out of his seat and exclaimed in victory. Yume immediately scolded him telling him to sit down and eat. Yamaguchi laughed and continued with his dinner.
