A long, deep scratch runs along the hood and roof of my $3,800,000 Koenigsegg. Mason is lying on the ground beside it crying. My hands fly up to mouth as I look at the damage and my child laying on the ground.
"I'm sorry mummy!" He says as he gets up and runs toward me, flinging his arms around me. I kneel down and pick him up holding him close.
"Shhh mason, it's okay. Are you okay?" I ask frantically.
"Y-yes." He stutters. I look over at Ed who is leaning over, hands on his knees, breathing deeply at the sight of the car that is a member of the family in our minds.
"What were you doing!" He says.
"I was sitting in the Aston, playing racer, and then Dimitri ran off so I got out and went after him but then my legs went too fast and I hit dad's baby and slid along the top." He says collapsing into tears. I turn to Dan and Kennedy.
"This is what we meant, he's going to need to learn to control the powers." I stare at my car. I notice there are dents on the hood and roof from where his strong legs and arms would have been flying around trying to stop him from sliding. And the deep scratch.... There's even a small crack in the windshield. Oh my gosh... If that's what he can do to this car...I don't want to think about what he could do to a human. I hold him tighter.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I ask.
"Yes mumma." He replies.
"What have I told you about playing in the cars?" Ed says.
"But you always say you wish I liked cars like the horsies. I'm trying to like them more daddy." Ed looks at his child with guilt.
"It wasn't his fault Ed." I say.
"Don't worry about it little lad. You can like horses more if you want to." This seems to make Mason cheer up a little. "What happened to me mumma?" Mason asks innocently.
"We will explain it soon hunny." He will need to learn how to hold these dangerous powers back.
