"I know."
"What do you mean I know? You knew and you didn't tell me?" I screeched, throwing my fists into Levi's arm.
"Yes, I knew, and actually I encouraged it. Erwin told me this morning at Laurie's." He said, staring down at me with an amused expression on his face. I groaned and buried my face in his chest, feeling the welcome warmth of his arms wrapping around me. He rested his chin on top of my head and rubbed my back soothingly.
Erwin had said he was putting me up for this position to reward me. Maybe we had different ideas of rewards; I was thinking more of a pay rise or a holiday - not being entrusted with an entire squad of my own.
"Do you actually think you can do it? Or are you leading us all to our deaths?" He hummed, and I felt the vibrations from his deep voice against my head.
"You're not helping." I mumbled, my voice muffled slightly by his broad chest.
"It was a genuine question."
"I don't know the answer." I sighed and pulled away, running a hand through my hair.
"Have some faith in yourself." He tutted. "If you don't have confidence in yourself, how do you expect your squad to trust you?"
"Stop making so much sense." I narrowed my eyes at him, and watched as a small smile appeared on his face. I loved the fact he smiled around me, as it was something he seldom did around other people. Selfishly, it made me feel special.
"Just take a day or two to strategise an approach, then call a meeting with me and Shitty-Glasses. Your say is final, but we'll help you through it."
"Thank you." I murmured, and began to walk towards the door, but Levi grabbed the crook of my arm and pulled me into him once more.
"You can start that tomorrow. Take the night off." He spoke quietly into my ear, and I smiled gently at the action.
"There's no point Levi," I replied, "I won't sleep tonight. I might as well get on with the things I need to do."
"I've got a few things in mind that could wear you out..." He said, biting at the skin of my earlobe.
"Ew." I spoke disgustedly, pushing him away and whacking him on the arm again, considerably harder than the last time. He laughed - an unfamiliar guttural sound I'd never heard in all the times I'd spent with him. Usually he expressed his amusement by a short exhale, but this. This was something else entirely. I stood there for a minute, staring at him with my mouth agape.
"What in the Walls was that?!" I exclaimed, and the smile dropped from his face.
"Don't make it weird." He huffed, crossing his arms and scowling. I couldn't help the grin spread across my lips as I jumped on him and pushed him down on to the settee, grabbing his cheeks and squishing them.
"You made it weird by laughing, you strange man. I didn't know that was a bodily function you were capable of." I joked, chuckling as he still maintained his scowl even with his cheeks squished together. He resembled an angry hamster.
In one swift motion he'd grabbed my wrists and flipped our position, him now on top of me with my hands pinned above me. I felt my cheeks redden immediately at the close intimacy.
"Not so funny now, is it?" He smirked, and planted a kiss on my lips. As he pulled away, our eyes met, and I found myself breathless. I leaned upwards for another kiss, but he backed away teasingly.
Bastard.
I attempted to wriggle out of his grasp, but he only held my hands tighter. He wasn't that much taller than me, but clearly where he lacked in height he made up for in strength.
"Levi." I whined, struggling against his grip more. His free hand came to rest against my cheek, and I stopped trying to move against him. He leant forwards again, and our lips met once more. This time was different, this was a kiss of passion, of hunger. The grip on my wrists tightened as his kisses became rougher, our lips moving against each other desperately as I gasped for air. He pressed his body more on to mine, and my hips involuntarily bucked upwards. Levi bit at my bottom lip before pulling away (to my disappointment).
"Eager, are we?" He rasped, and I rolled my eyes and kicked him off.
"I have work to do." I said shortly and sat up, brushing myself down.
"And here I thought you liked me," He sighed playfully.
"You were wrong." I grinned and stood up, making my way towards the door. Levi's arms latched around my waist as he hugged me from behind, nestling his head into the crook of my shoulder.
"Stay the night." He mumbled, kissing up towards my neck lightly. I played with his tousled hair as he continued to plant feathery pecks on the sensitive skin of my nape, sending pleasant shudders down my spine. I felt him smile at my reaction as his hot breath fanned against my skin. I wanted to, I really wanted to, but I had things to do, and I certainly didn't want a repeat of the morning's events tomorrow.
"I have to shower."
"Shower here."
"I need fresh clothes."
"Wear mine."
I knew making excuses wouldn't get me anywhere, and I'd ran out of them anyway. Levi stared at me triumphantly; he knew I'd already begun to give in.
"If I promise not to ignore you tomorrow morning, will you stay with me?"
Busted.
"I know that's what you're worried about. Please, stay with me tonight." He pleaded softly, taking my hands in his.
"Fine." I grunted reluctantly, "But I want a shower. And a shirt."
