Fallan

"So, what you're saying is..." Levi began, his brows furrowed in concentration. "You are an impure descendant of a mutated, incestual clan that murdered your brother because they thought he was you?"
"To put it simply, yeah. But I don't know if they killed him, it could've been a number of people." I looked off into the distance and sighed.
"Because your family made a lot of enemies, and they all want you dead?"
I nodded and tucked my legs into my chest, resting my head on my knees.
"Well they're doing a shitty job." He muttered, twisting a lock of my hair around his finger. I exhaled slightly and looked to him.
"Exactly what I said."
"Are you going to die because you told me all of this?"
"Probably." I shrugged.
"Well, that's a predicament."
I rolled my eyes at him and fought off the grin that was tugging at the corners of my lips. I noticed his eyes softened as he looked down at me, and a small smile appeared on his face.
"You look so beautiful when you smile." I whispered, staring at him with wide eyes.
How disgustingly cringeworthy- pull yourself together Reid.
I realised what I'd said, but it was too late. A furious blush spread across my cheeks as his smile only grew bigger.
"I always hated it," He sighed, "And yet it always seems to make an appearance around you."
"Apart from when we're in carriages." I frowned, and heard a quick laugh escape his lips - like music to my ears.
"Yes, apart from when we're in carriages."
A comfortable silence filled the air as we both sat together, and for the first time in days I felt at peace.
"Levi," I began quietly, and he hummed in response. "Please don't let me die."
"I'd be a rather shitty fiancée if I let you die."
I laughed at his comment, before his words registered in my head, and the chuckle morphed into a shocked sputter.
Did he just say fiancée?
I stared at him for a moment, but all I got in return was a blank expression.
Maybe I'm hearing things.
"Yes, I did say fiancée."
Damn mind reader.
"Well why the hell would you say that, you-" I began to yell at him, but he silenced me by pressing his lips against mine gently. His hand reached up to cup my cheek, and mine tangled in his hair in return. As he pulled away, we stared at each other with hazy eyes.
"Fallan Reid, I may not have a ring, nor do I have flowers, or chocolates, or a long romantic speech..." He paused, and I felt breathless in that moment as his soft knuckles stroked my cheek. "All I have to offer you is my heart, and the promise that one day - you will be my wife."
"You've got a lot of nerve promising to marry me before even asking me to be your girlfriend." I whispered with a grin, my voice cracking with emotion as a tear rolled down my cheek.
Levi took my hands in his and kissed them gently, looking to me as his grey eyes glinted in the sunlight.
"One day, when this is all over, I'll get you the biggest damn ring Mitras has to offer and propose properly, and we'll get married, and start our teashop with no customers in the countryside."
"I couldn't think of anything better."
