I look into your eyes, and the sky's the limit. I'm helpless...

Clare was currently getting dressed and ready. She was going to have a girl's night with a few of her girlfriends. They were going to a new club that just opened in Chicago. Also, Clare had just gone through a breakup, so a girl's night was very necessary.

Clare decided on wearing a satin black dress from Fashion Nova with a pair of black stilettos from Steve Madden. She zips up her dress and her phone goes off, signaling a text from her friend, Ariana. She opens the text and sees that it says she was in front of her building. Clare sends a quick text to Ariana, saying she was heading down, before putting on her heels. She grabs her purse and locks her apartment before heading down to meet Ariana.

She walks out of the lobby and sees Ariana parked in front. She has a huge smile on her face. "Ari!" she exclaims as she walks to the car.

Ariana looks at her and smiles and waves at her. "Clare!" she exclaims back, unlocking the car.

Clare opens the door and gets in. "Girl," she drags out, putting on her seatbelt as Ariana starts driving. "You haven idea how much I needed this night."

Ariana lets out a 'mhm'. "Girl, you definitely needed tonight," she says. "Bella, Natalie, and I have been planning this night since the breakup."

Clare groans in disgust. "Please, don't mention him. I don't need that in my life, anymore."

Ariana nods, feeling proud of her best friend. "Damn right. Don't you worry, you'll find somebody else."

Clare feels her self-esteem going up. "As great as that sounds, I think I wanna enjoy being single a little longer."

Ariana gives her a look before turning back onto the road. "Clare, you guys broke up almost a year ago." Ten months, to be exact.

Clare nods at her. "I know, but it feels so refreshing to not have to worry whether or not he's gonna text you back or if he's gonna be next to you the next morning. Like all that stress is taken off."

Ariana nods, now understanding what she means. "As your best friend, I'm gonna tell you that the best way of getting over a man is to get under a new one. But, as a fellow feminist, I'm gonna say, 'you don't need no man!'"

Clare laughs at her. "Okay, well, let's get to the club. I'm sure Bella and Nat are already there, waiting."

Ariana chuckles at her. "Alright. Ooh, I hope Nat didn't bring her boyfriend, like last time."

Clare groans at the thought of him being there. "Me neither. I hope she left him. He's a control freak."

Ariana agrees with her. "I know, right?" They continue gossiping the rest of the way.

They arrive at the club about 15 minutes later. Ariana parks the car, and they start heading inside after showing the bouncer their IDs. They start walking to a table and see their other two friends. Bella notices them first and waves them over. "Hey, ladies!" she yells out over the music.

"Hi!" they yell back, giving them hugs.

Clare pulls away from hugging Natalie and looks around. "Nat, where's Hudson?" she asks.

Natalie picks up her drink. "Oh, he's outta town for the week," he replies.

'Uh-oh,' Clare thought. Ariana and Bella raise their eyebrows and look at each other, knowing exactly what that means. "Well, I think that means we can have as much as we want, then," Ariana says, earning cheers from everyone.

Clare puts her purse down on her chair next to Bella. "I'm gonna get some shots," she says. They nod at her as she walks to the bar. She over four shots of tequila and her and Ariana's drinks.

Once she gets them, she goes back to the table. She starts passing them around. "Okay, ladies, here we go," she says.

Bella takes her shot glass. "Okay, Clare," she starts. Clare turns to her. "We're gonna find you someone new. It's time."

Clare laughs and shakes her head. "Okay, you guys, I really appreciate what you're doing. I was with Victor for 2 years, and I'm honestly loving not having a dude around."

Ariana and Natalie applaud her. "Yes, girl!" Ariana says. They all clink their shot glasses and tip their heads back to take the shot.

Bella puts her empty glass down. "I'm proud of you, Clare."

Clare smiles at her. "Thank you. And I'm being serious when I say, not having a dude around is the best feeling ever."

You walked in, and my heart went BOOM!

Then, a group of guys walk in, making them look over. Clare notices one of them and raises her eyebrows as she feels her heart flutter. She looks back at her. "I guess there's some things I miss." The other three laugh at her words.

About two hours later, they finish their second round. Clare gets up with her cup. "I'll get us another round of drinks," she says. "Shots, ladies?"

They shake their heads. "We're good," Bella answers for them. Clare nods and walks over to the bar.

Clare asks the bartender for another round and waits for the drinks. While she's waiting, someone comes up next to her. "Aye, her rounds are on me," he says.

Clare gives him a look. "Was that a way to flirt with me?" she asks. "Cuz if so, that was a very bad attempt."

The guy chuckles. "Damn, so, what I'm hearing is that I need to up my game," he says. She laughs with him. He holds his hand out to her. "I'm Nick."

Clare smiles and shakes his hand. "Clare," she says. She gets a better look at him. "You look really familiar. Did you just get in a few hours ago?"

Nick nods at her. "Yeah. And I hope I look familiar. I play for the White Sox."

Clare then recognizes him as Nick Madrigal. "You're Nick Madrigal!" He chuckles and nods at her.  "I'm sorry, I just haven't been keeping up with baseball, lately. I'm a huge White Sox fan, though."

Nick shakes his head. "It's fine. We won our first game of the season, so we just came to celebrate."

Clare smiles at him as she feels helpless looking in his eyes. "Well, congratulations. Hopefully, you guys will get a playoff season?"

Nick shrugs at her. "I don't know, we'll see." They laugh at each other. "So, what brings you here?"

Clare smiles and points at her table. "Girls night out," she says. Her drinks arrive, and she thanks the bartender as she takes them. "It was nice meeting you, Nick."

He gives her a look. "Already? I thought we were just getting to know each other."

She laughs at him. "That's cute, but I gotta get back to my friends."

He smiles and sighs as he writes down his number. "Alright, well, at least gimme a call or something." He hands over the paper with his number.

She gives him a look but takes the paper, anyway. "We'll see about that." They bid their final goodbyes before she walks back.

Nick looks at her as she walks away. 'Damn,' he thought.

Clare looks at the number. 'I definitely will be calling,' she thought, putting it in her pocket.

Here you go, Clare!! I'm sorry the ending was so bad😭 I hope you guys enjoyed!! Btw, this was inspired by the song 'Helpless' from the Hamilton soundtrack. I'm a little obsessed with the musical, right now😂

Also, there's no excuse for what happened at the Capital, last week. Those people were terrorists and staged a coup.

With Biden's inauguration coming up, please be safe.

Stay safe, my loves💙💙💙
