Christmas soon came back around, although this year definitely felt more merry than the last. Taehyung was much more comfortable around the Jeon's than he was the first Christmas he spent with them, after all he had only been dating Jungkook for about a month and a half back then. Now, nobody could remember a time when Taehyung wasn't apart of the family.
Taehyung was in the kitchen helping Mrs. Jeon with cooking the dinner whilst Asami decorated the dining table, all three of them were screaming Christmas songs obnoxiously loud, so loud Jungkook and his dad could barely hear the show they were watching in the next room.
"Dad?" Jungkook says, breaking the silence between them both.
"If you're going to ask if there's a way I can get them to be quiet then the answer is a solid no, you know how your mom gets when cooking Christmas dinner."
"What? No, they're fine, it's nice that they're having fun. I just needed some advice on something." Jungkook laughs.
"Advice? You know your mom is the advice person, not me." Mr. Jeon smiles apologetically.
"It's actually not advice I need really, I'm gonna do it no matter what. I just need to tell someone about it, and I can't tell mom because it's about Tae and them two are literally joined at the hip."
Mr. Jeon sits forward slightly to turn the TV down, sensing this could be a serious chat. "What's wrong? Is everything okay with you two?"
"Oh yeah, everything's fine with us, perfect actually," Jungkook says with a smile, making his dad sigh in relief.
"What are you planning then?"
"Well, Tae's birthday is in five days, right? And I've been looking into this a lot- I've talked to loads of different people about it over the last couple of months because I didn't actually know quite how it was done or what it actually meant once it was done- obviously I knew it was a great thing but you know, all the responsibility and all that-"
"Kook, you're rambling."
"Oh, sorry. I got all the paperwork for Tae to adopt Asami, so we're a proper family, I thought it would be a good birthday gift for him. He just needs to sign the papers and we send it off to the court to be approved, then he's legally pancake's second dad." Jungkook speaks with a dreamy tone, thinking of how excited Taehyung will be once he sees the papers.
Mr. Jeon smiles at his son, there's nothing that gives him more joy in life than seeing his child so unbelievably happy with how his life was turning out. "That's amazing, I'm sure he'll be thrilled when he finds out."
"I'm hoping so. I feel like he holds back on a few things at the moment like he's always looking at me for approval to do all the parental things, you know? He's so aware that he's legally nothing to do with Asami and I hate that. So this way he can see how much I trust him, how much he deserves to be her other parental figure."
"Have you told Asami about your plan?"
"Not yet, she'd be so excited that she'd end up spoiling the surprise. I'll tell her on the morning of his birthday so she's ready for him to open the gift." Jungkook chuckles, it's not that he didn't trust his daughter but trusting a six-year-old to keep their mouth shut about something they're so excited for would be near enough impossible, especially due to the fact she tells Taehyung everything.
As if on queue, Taehyung comes into the room to announce that dinner was finally ready, Asami placed delicately on his hip. "I didn't burn anything, how great is that? I'm definitely becoming a better cook," he says cheerfully.
"Aw, I'm proud of you baby." Jungkook smiles as he stands up and places a gentle kiss on the elder's nose.
"I made the table look really pretty! Didn't I Tata?" Asami chimes in, not wanting to be without praise as well.
