Jungkook tries his best not to constantly feel anxious over finding out the results of the paternity test that he and Taehyung had sent off a week ago, but in reality, every day that passes is another day of not knowing what was really true or not. It was hard to explain the importance of the test to Asami without telling her what was really happening, not wanting the little girl to worry over the possibility of her dad not really being her dad at all. Instead, they settled for a little white lie, telling her that the reason behind getting her mouth swabbed was to let the tooth fairy know she's been taking good care of her teeth. Luckily she bought the lie, waking up to a small fairy plush the next day from the 'tooth fairy' as a reward for her good mouth hygiene.
As much as Taehyung constantly told him that everything would be okay, nothing could really make Jungkook's nerves go away other than the results coming through the mail. He couldn't believe that once again Jihyo had managed to step all over his happiness, and pretending that everything was fine was really eating away at him.
Still, the family went about their days as if everything was normal, knowing that it was important for both of their children that they did so. After all, they wouldn't truly allow such a vile woman to completely destroy their perfect home life.
"Uh, Tae?" Jungkook asks when he sees Taehyung entering the kitchen one morning, the elder giving him a questioning glance as he sets Minjun down in his highchair, the little boy dressed sweetly in a pair of overalls. "Since when did you start dressing Minjun up just to take pancake to school?"
"It's not just for the school run, he has his first baby music class today! Do you seriously still not check the calendar?"
"I do, I just thought that was a joke."
"There is no joking about our son's development. Do you know how many social and behavioural skills that babies can learn just from this class?" Taehyung dramatically says, insulted by the implication of it all being a joke.
"I think I need to stop your late night internet searches." Jungkook laughs, receiving yet another insulted gasp from the elder.
"Chim actually suggested it, he saw a documentary about the importance of music in the development of babies and called me straight after so we could sign Minjun and Jongho up for classes."
"I want to go to music class with Junie!" Asami joins the conversation.
"It's for babies, little squish. Besides, you need to go to school." Jungkook smiles at her, hating the way she instantly pouts in dissapointment.
"But schools boring."
"Since when do you find school boring?"
"Since I want to be in music class with daddy and Junie instead," Asami huffs, shovelling more cereal in her mouth and chewing it with a pout.
It's times like this when Jungkook really does believe she is his biological daughter, the little quirks and manarisms making it so clear that she had to be his. But without proof his brain doesn't allow him to believe it for too long, the sadness taking over quicker than the happiness stays. He needs the results to finally allow himself to be happy again, whether they tell him she's his blood or not.
"You didn't dress Jongho in overalls, you told me you would!" Taehyung pouts once he meets his best friend outside the class.
"Tae, I told you that so you'd stop asking me. Do you know how weird we'd look if we showed up and our babies were matching? People would probably think we're a couple."
"I thought it would be cute, but whatever."
Jimin sighs at his still pouting best friend, wondering how he was a fully grown man and not still a child himself. "They can match at next weeks class, I promise I won't back out this time."
